Either there's a minimum post count before one can post a poll, or I just can't figure out how, so here's mine in non-poll form:

- Rush Limbaugh
- Michael Savage
- G. Gordon Liddy
- Sean Hannity

I probably left out a few, but these are my choices.  Who do you like?

Saveage I think. Although Jason Lewis at KSTP in Minneapolis is pretty good also. Matter of fact, Lars Larson in Portland is good also.

IMHO, I think that Rush is the best conservative talk show host. He's also doing an excellent job considering that he is now completely deaf.

Sean Hannity literally is a close second.

RUSH RULES !!!!
Of course my opinion is no way influenced by the fact that he is also a fellow Steeler Fan !

I like the Alex Jones guy.

BTW, if the movie "Waking Life" is playing in your town, there's a scene where Alex Jones is driving around in an old car with a PA system, and him ranting into his microphone about freedom.  I wanted to get up and yell "YEAH!!!!" to what he was saying.  It's an awesome scene.

Hannity is the most competent. He does the most workmanlike job, covers everything that needs covering, etc.

That said, Rush is an artist, beyond and above. The man built the industry.

I miss listening to G. Gordon, bay area stations took him off after the whole jack booted thug thing.

Savage is an ass.  If someone starts proving him wrong he goes straight to the personal attacks.

I like Hannity's show but we only get it for like an hour at noon.

Never get to listen to Rush cause I work for a living.

Favorite is probably Geoff Metcalf, though I don't know if he goes national at all.  Lots of good gun content and he is on during the weekend so I can actually listen to him.

Sean Hannity hands down. Rush goes off on tangents too much. Savage is flatly rude. I've not heard much of Liddy.

However, the best host that is no longer on the air is Pat Bucannon. His show always had two guests on for each side. These guest were always sharp and polite... very profesional talk show for thought not entertainment.

I usually flip between Rush and G. Gordon, but mostly Rush.  Then Hannity is on after them so I always listen to Sean.

Rush...  No question...

I also like Savage, though I admit he's a bit "Out There" for most.  Savage can be pretty rude, and abrupt, but he looks at things in much the same way as I do, so that's fine...

I suppose I like Savage, in much the same manner as some people like the "Jerry Springer Show", for the Idiot's that find their way on the show.

I have caught Lars when he's filled in for Michael, also pretty good, but of the "Non-Major's" manning the Mic's, I'd say my vote goes to David Gold ([urlhttp://www.goldtalk.com)

Geoff Metcalfe is a class act and one of those whose show was displaced by rush on KSFO. He now gets weekend reruns and became Worldnet Daily Radio. His daily broadcast airs on a Sacramento station also or can be heard on the internet Pacific time 4-7 PM.

Normally I would say Geoff Metcalf is a good host. However, he really screwed-up big during the veto-the-governor petition drive. He decided not to release signature counts in order to keep control as the figure head. In the end, the petition drive came up a little short on signatures. Something that could have been easily overcame if the volunteers knew the running tally.

In the end, he put himself ahead of pro-gun rights. So I don't listen to him any more.

Anybody remember the episode regarding the chicom administrators for Lockyer's SKSBUYBACK.ORG website?

Hermann Bockelmann.

You haven't heard him yet.

He's on AM 770 in Dallas.  The guy's northern German and he's smart, funny, audacious and possessed of the thickest Kraut accent you ever heard.  He's hilarious.

He uses all kinds of music between screeds...opera, rockabilly, classical, you name it.  You never know what's coming next.

He was even featured on the front page of the Dallas Moron News today.  Guy's gonna go national.  It's a promise.

Check out Ron Smith on WBAL in Baltimore.  Very bright guy, and very pro-gun.  I also enjoy Walter Williams when he substitutes for Rush.

To WhomItMayConcern,

sksbuyback.com no longer exists. You probably have an activex control virus that changed some settings. The setting in particular is used by the IE browser to automatically go to a website when a domain is not found. Normally, this is auto.search.msn.com.

A good, thought-provoking show. Hewitt doesn't just rant and set up straw men. Has a feature called "The Smart Guys" which is a round table w/ conservative and lefty legal scholars.

I'll cast another vote for Michael Medved.  And he is strongly pro-gun.  He is calm and courteous to all guests and callers.  He invites the toughest questions and challenges to his conservative positions.  He rarely rants or makes personal attacks.  But he is very intelligent, articulate, and knowledgeable - an extremely effective defender and proponent of conservative positions.  I enjoy some of the others mentioned - but often find them irritating as well.  I think Medved is by far the best I've heard.

SAVAGE, Michael.....A New York kid from the Bronx, graduate of Berkley, living in San Francisco and a died in the wool American Patriot.  The Savage Nation....best talk show in America!  Ken Hamblin, Hannity, Rush, Medved etc. are all to be sincerely thanked and supported for trying to keep this country on course!

The current best-of-the-best is John Carlson.  I'm not sure if he's syndicated beyond the Seattle area, but he is thoughtful, picks interesting guests and topics, and actually engages in discussion with people who call in.  He ran for governor in WA a couple of years ago.

Liddy was great in the early 90's;  he's off the air in most (maybe all) markets now, sadly.  http://www.ggordonliddy.com/

Rush Limbaugh is definitely past his peak;  still enjoyable, but he's been digressing too much lately IMHO.  His hearing loss is total, not "legal" -- otherwise his physicians would not be talking about trying a cochlear implant.

We can only wish that he had croaked while engaging in "animal husbandry" with sheep. . . .  As someone else noted earlier, Savage is an ass.  He engages in that last refuge of the incompetent talk-show hosts:  staking out and then "defending" outrageous positions to provoke responses.  And he does it on every single damn show of his.  I quit listening to his show;  it's dull once you figure out his formula.

Amen.. I used to enjoy Geoff quite a bit his "what's right rather than who's right" approach is exactly what's needed.... Too bad abc/ksfo screwed him like they did (no guns on abc).  His handling of the "VTG" drive was also a screwup.

[red]For all you Savage Fans.... FYI[/red]   I live in the bay area, Before savage went national, he was always downing "gun nuts".  He ridiculed any talk show host that brought up "the gun issue" (mostly Geoff Metcalf) though he was to cowardly to mention anyone by name he made it quite clear who he was talking about.  He was for registration of ALL riles, handguns, and "assault weapons".  He even bragged how he had already registered his.  He also mentioned having no problem with "limited" bans!  Now that he's national he's flip flopped...  Just thought you should know.

Yes, Vampire, I've been living here listening to KSFO since it switch formats to talk show. Savage, like all of the others, are really sluts to ratings. They put this ahead of their values. Some far more so than others.

RUSH!

Period. Paragraph. End of Story.

I remember listening to the G-Man back when I lived in Virginia. I sure do miss him. I haven't heard Sean's show yet, but I guarantee that when Rush's turn is up, it will be Sean that steps in!

I wish Walter Williams had his own show! [>Q]

I wish Miami had REAL talk radio! [>Q]
