How is it done? I tried to follow the instuctions on the "Board Code", but I guess I just don't get it.

use the brackets, put [ img ], then the url, followed by another [ /img ]. don't use spaces, though, between the bracket and img.

If you were going to post the pic that sfoo did, it would look like this.

You can't post pics directly from your hard drive. You must upload the pic to a web server that you have an account on that will host it for you, AND that server must allow linking from other webpages. The reason you see the "This photo not available" from PhotoPoint is probably because the PhotoPoint account in question isn't a PAID account, and those are the only ones that allow remote linking.

Also note that your picture will be downloaded every time someone loads this page. If you're linking from your personal web account, you may have a usage limitation (such as, only 100 MB of transfers from your web page per month, or you have to pay extra). If you were to post a 1 MB pic here, and 100 people open this page the first day, you'll have used up all of your usage credit for the month.

The days of free services on the net are pretty much over...

The preceding picture took me a long time before finally (after reading the suggestions) I got it right. The above is from my AT&T Account website which allows for 6 email addresses and 6 - 10 Meg web pages. When I got the picture up on properties, I right clicked and then highlighted the URL by right clicking again and left clicking "Select All". It highlighted the URL of which I copied and pasted into the URL address area then added the necessary bracketed stuff then copied and pasted on my reply. I may have done this all backwards, but it did work. Pic is 1968 in the Mekong Delta - Perimeter Defense 3 Bravo. Now if I can only figure out how to get a "Logo" in the AR15.com Member place.

Everytime I have used Webshots to post a photo in the past it has failed. It shows up at first, but if you return to the post later, you get the "red 'X' of death". What am I doing wrong?

You have to wait a while. And you can't get the correct address from the Webshots webpage, it puts you into a frame.

Right click on the image, go to > properties then copy the link from the pop up dialog. You can select the text direcly on the pop up window, select, copy and paste.

[b][size=4]YES!!![/size=4][/b] My photo is still here. F*** Photopoint!!! I haven't been able to post photos since Photopoint dumped me and everyone else who would not pay to link to their site. Webshots is the way to go (until they start charging too).

After a certain number of linked loads, Webshots will turn off linking to a pic. So, yes, it will work for a while, but the Chick of the Day post has been viewed (downloaded) like 6000 times...
