And I have finals next week, which means I have several papers I need to write over this weekend and into next week.

I know it's usually bullshit, but does anyone have any recommendation for a course of action that helps you prevent sickness, when in the early stages? I'm not sick yet, but I can definitely feel it creeping up. Running nose, throat feels icky, head is a little cloudy, etc.

Tons of water is the only thing I'm doing so far. Any other advice?

Lots of people will flame me for this... but try a double-dose of Airborn.

When I get a cold, it settles in like Father Winter. I mean, concrete-filled sinuses, aches & pains like I've been hit by a car, etc. If I catch it in time, Airborn helps to diminish the symptoms pretty radically, and also to reduce the duration of the cold. On two occasions it knocked the cold out before it got beyond the sore throat stage!

(For me, A cold starts with a sore throat, at the back of the throat, on the soft palate; this is a very reliable predictor of how I'm gonna be feeling for the next week or 2.)

Tons of water is very, very good for you; keep it up. Dehydration only weakens your body.

I usually take some zinc, seems to help but may just be placebo.
