Hielo actually gave me an idea. (I know - I'm as Shocked as anyone [:D]  )

I think we need to start a new religion. it will be called "DoWhatchaWanna." The basic rule is "Do Whatcha Wanna."

But as with any of the other religions, it quickly becomes more complicated than that.

So I need your help - we need to make up the rest of the rules for our new religion.

Does no harm, what you take from it is up to you.  If you are a woman and feel harmed by a man opening a door for you, make sure not to do that to someone else.

If you feel harmed because other people don't follow your flavor of religion, make sure not to do that to someone else.

Rememeber, it is *your* personal beleif, not what someone else takes from it that matters in this religion.

As to tithes, don't need them.

Church attendance?  Ever second of your life you are attending this church.

A holy text?  "Do no harm to others" doesn't fill up many pages, but feel free to go for it if you feel the need.

A deity?  He lives inside of you, Do no harm to others, whats so hard to figure out about that?

I understand the need to make it complex and mysterious, after all how else could/can we control the masses with the rest of the club other organized religions wield.

It is quite simple, Do no harm to others.

Of course if someone does harm you, god insists that you remove the sinner quickly and with a minimum of fuss.

Time was, when that would have been a major sin.
Nothing that could be laughed off.

I am working with you, I just am wondering what your church officials are going to do with you.  (Just worried for that soul of yours my friend, thats all).

Now in my church, poking fun at your/our god is perfectly acceptable and highly prized, starting your own versions of a religion is to be accepted (After all, yourt god is not the same as mine, as I am not the same as you).

If you can't laugh at your god, what kind of sense of humor can she really have?

Oh! The humanity![}:D]

If everybody does what they want then will someone get hurt?

Would "DoWhatchaWant" be almost the same as "DoNuthinAllTheTime"?

Can we say "Amen" in this religion?[^]
I guess so since we can "DoWhatWeWant"!

What day do we have services on? Maybe Monday night so we can watch the football game?

The very nature of the religiion indicates a total disregard of others..."me first' is the rule.  Holy writings?  A volume of that uses bits and pieces of Ayn Rand's work, all taken out of context.  We can then have clergymen to further misintepret them for us, as other religions do.  The nature of the religion is such that adherents would be too greedy to pay tithes and so forth, w/o tangible rewards in return.  Any day the stock market posts a gain should be a holy day, likewise the birthdays of the major porn stars.  May I suggest having a sect that concentrates on the sexual aspect of life.  You can call it "Tantric DoWhatchaWanna."  BTW, as the founder of this religion and its Earthly focus, are you going to claim infallibility in matters of church doctrine?  it's worked for others and seems a natural way to increase your bottom line.

Very much like the Church Of Satan, in fact. I don't worship Satan, but I have read the Satanic Bible, along with various other books of that nature. (Yes, I have also read the "real" Bible as well.) I have studied several religions to try to be open-minded and find for myself what many religions preach, instead of hearing it from others, who have already developed their own opinion on these matters. What does this have to do with "DoWhatchaWanna"? I do not know. Although I suspect this is a GREAT amount of sarcasm on the part of garandman, I do believe he is finally headed in the right direction. [;)]

They don't do human sacrifices.  That's like me asking you with all your morals and self-righteousness, how do you justify the crusades or burning women at the stake because you deemed them to be witches?

Wiccans don't do human sacrifices.  They practice an earth based religion where they channel positive energies to help heal and support life.

There are wacko's who claim to be Satanists or align themselves with some dark craft, but these are the MINORITY and not the majority like you keep implying.  That's like saying Koresh represents your religion and we should judge all Christians by his actions.

Do you always preach such hatred and is this the Christian way?  Or are you really this ignorant about Wicca and other Pagan religions?

Hey, someone has to.  And I'm not about preaching love, I could care less about that.

Christianity is based on Pagan traditions (take Christmas as an example) and was custom tailored in the early days to appeal to Pagans... so as to steal them away.

For you to attack the Pagan religions is kind of funny in that you're attacking the basis for your own religion.

I've found that the vast majority of religions are nothing more than businesses.  You give them money and support and in return you get "salvation".  It's a great gimmick.  No one comes back from the dead bitching that they got ripped off and you sleep easier at night believing you're going to live in heaven once you kick the bucket.

I think the Wiccan religions are screwed up too.  If I had to choose a new religion, I guess I would be a Jew.  They probably are closer to being right than any of the European flavors of Christianity.

I never said you had anything to do with burning people at the stake.  I said your claims that Wiccans do human sacrifices is like me saying Christians want to do similar things.  Yes, both religions have done horrible things to their fellow man in the past, but you're (as usual) missing the point.

I also asked if we should judge all Christians by Koresh's actions.  The answer is obviously no, and that was my point.

You've made similar statements about Wiccans in the past... about them being Satanic and you've brought up the whole human sacrifice thing before too.  Hey, early Christians did animal sacrifices and I wouldn't be surprised to find out they did a few human ones too.

For you to dismiss your constant assailment of anything non-Christian as levity I believe would be misleading, if not an out right lie.

I don't hate you or even dislike you.  I just find entertainment in poking holes in your religion.  You're the one that makes it a constant topic on these forums, so I feel justified in taking a few shots.  Nothing personal.

And yes, I do find a belief in an invisible deity to be lunacy.  Just as you probably find a belief in fairies, dragons, leprechauns, aliens, or big foot to be nutty.  In such a case we have another glowing example of the pot calling the kettle black.
