Large Wolf spider, between 3.5-4 inches, biggest one I have seen yet. That is standard brick on the house, you can judge the size from that.

All spiders are venomous, but only a few are capable of harming people. A wolf spider is not dangerous to humans.

Actually that was just my backup, the older 2 megapixel Canon A60 with Macro mode on, my main, the 6 megapixel Canon S3, had dead batteries. If I had not found it under my Jeep that I crawl under daily (restoration project) I would have let him live. I wish I had relocated him out to the wood, but he moved too fast to capture, so I sprayed him with Orange-guard. |

My wife and I keep all spiders alive in our house, unless it's either 1: a brown recluse or black widow, or 2: in our bed.
Jumping spiders and wolf spiders are the best to keep in the house, because they are territorial, and they both hunt other, bad spiders. Brown recluses are not territorial, they can be almost like a colony. Use other spiders to keep them in check. |

Next time you go in the yard at night bring a flashlight and sweep the perimiter. Thay are one of the few spiders who's eyes glow, by glow I mean reflect light not glow (sorry no zombie spiders.) Down here by Lubbock if I stand outside I can probably see at least 30
