Seems about 1k to much, but with the flight out of SUV's might be ok.....I still think its overpriced maybe $1800 if mechanically sound

Sounds just alittle high.
Not sure what book is on it, but most likely you can get him down to $2K w/ alittle arf.com savvy. I bought my gf a 1997 Toyota Camry LE 4cyl ( 1 owner ) off of CraigsList 2 years ago for $5K. it only had 80K miles and was in exc condition. 2 years later and it's still running strong and maint. free except for fluid changes. Small economy cars are a hot commodity right now due to gas prices. If it's a really good buy... one of the 1st to see it will snatch it up. Best of luck |

blue book is 2300 for fair conditon and 2700 for good (no mechenical defects).
I have been looking on craiglist and 3 different newspaper calssifieds for about 2 months now, and this is the best deal I have found on either a honda or toyota. (except the '93 with 127K miles, that I could have gotten for 2k, but I tried to get it cheaper and he sold it) |

uggghh....the used small car market is hot....scorching hot right now....if its checks out mechanically...I guess blue book for fair would be ok.....the crunched fender and dings bring it into the "fair" condition.

ok I am taking it to the mechanic right now. if It checks out, I will offer the guy 2300.
honestly I am willing to go up to 2500 right now. like you said, the market is crazy right now. when I was 17 my first car was a 96 geo prizm (rebadged corolla) and I only paid 2k for it, although it had closer to 200K miles. today I am buying a much older car (relativly) and paying MORE. fucking gas prices. |

yeah....I see the prices on some of them(small cars) in the autotrader and I cant belive it....4 years ago they were the scourge of the auto market.....now they are gobbled up at prices that make me go

ya, I sell used cars for a living (go ahead...get it out) and the small 4 cyl car market is crazy...2500 sounds good if it checks out...he may just tell ya to kick dirt if you come at him w/ an unreasonable offer because it WILL sell quick. But hey, never hurts to ask; the market is different everywhere in the country.
Around here, we have small 4cyl imports going for KBB RETAIL prices at the auctions But I can buy Mountaineers and such about $8-9k behind book  Speed |

well the guy wouldnt take less than 3000$. after I spent 60$ paying aamco to look at the transmission and stuff.
thats 700$ over the blue book value for fair, and 300$ over the good consition value. its just about at the price of a new 95 corolla (if you could even find such a thing) FUCK this shit is getting really fucking old. I cant beleive i passed up the 93, I have been kicking myself for a month |

You didn't miss out on anything. 124,000 miles and 13 years old is A LOT, even for a Toyota.
If that is the best deal you can find, you would be better off getting one new. (and I am about the last person in the world to ever advise buying new.  ) Honda and Toyota have a cult following, a mythical status right now. You are unlikely to find any reasonable deals in the very well used market. |

Sounds decent. I bought a 1995 for the same amount of money 3-4 years ago. It didn't have body damage though.

I'm a dealer. Just pulled auction reports from the dealer's auto auction. Similar cars have been bringing $1500-$1800. That's dealer cost, so you're getting a fair deal. Not a great deal, but a fair deal.

No! Transmission is a POS. Small Mazdas (323, Protege) are usually very reliable - ditto for Nissan Sentras. Geo Prizm is a good "sleeper" car - It's a re-badged Toyota Corolla. |
