A bit overcast, but all in all a good day. Here are some pics. As usuall, I spent more time gabbing than shooting. Great bunch of folks though. Looking forward to next time.

We also ran a lil tac course just for fun, using Osama target and bowling pins.

Yo lt, aren't you going to tell them about how I had to save you from that unstoppable steel plate? You emptied the mag on your Gee Lock at that thing and it just kept coming at you, relentlessly. [:O]
I had to put a little USP45 Tactical smackdown on its ass. One 230gr FMJ later, you were safe again. [}:D] Whew! [:D] |

[:(] Gorgeous range though plenty of room. The 1000yds range would've been great for the beltfed guys you have in SoCal. There was probably 100acres of shooting space we had to ourselves. Quoted: Well did anybody hit the 1000 yarder? View Quote Nah, there was only one guy that went up there. There was a few people that were shooting half way at the 500yds mark when I got there. |

Thanks Jarhead_22 for the shooting tips. BTW, you are sure that you are not working for HK ? [:)] |

I got to fire DPeacher's .416 Rigby.
Oh My God! That thing is a frickin' cannon! It makes the "Quigley Down Under" rifle look positively tame!! [%|] Actually, I think DPeacher just attached a buttstock to a Howitzer to pull a joke on those of us who were brave(stupid) enough to fire it... |
|
... man, that looks like a day of fun!
... gotta get one of them going in the central Arizona area soon. |

you guys suck. Maybe next time you could have it a little closer to Houston so us southerners could show up as well...there's a bunch of us down here.
|
|
And then again, you could bring your sorry butt up here. It's not like you don't know the area. [:D]

But I don't feel like making a 4 1/2 hour drive. Would you?
Ft. Worth is evil...it's always calling my name telling me to do bad things... |
|
BTW, you forgot to mention the black helicopters flying over the range while we were there... [/tin foil]
Man, what a day! Tomorrow, I will try to post some of the names to associate with the pics. --TheRedGoat/Baphomet |

What a great day indeed! It sure was nice to meet a bunch of the AR15.com crew. Mojo, thanks for the full auto trigger time on your "Li'l Fren". Jarhead_22, You only shot "Baby" 1 time. It couldn't have been that bad, or I wouldn't have been able withstand the measley 8 rounds I ran through her. The "Osama House" was a really good time as well, and the KD range is a very nice set up, in fact I would say the best KD range I have shot on outside of the military. We are going to have to get together for another one of these events so I can remember everyones name! I would also like to thank the rest of the folks who let me shoot their weapons (FAL, Rem 700, Singer 1911).
brouhaha, I know what you mean. I drove from Austin, 3.5 hrs (210 miles) each way. But it was worth it! Great people and a first class facility! Hope to see you at the next one! Semper Fi |

View Quote Brouhaha, if they do it again, I'll probably drive up because it looked like a lot of fun. I'll be more than happy to let you ride shotgun, as long as you don't bitch about my driving (no wrecks and no ticekts) or the music. [:D] I've made that Dallas trip more than a few times and know all the speed traps. God Bless Texas |

GBT, I went to school in Ft. W, that's why Don is giving me a hard time. I've put about 10,000 miles on my car(s) going up there. I just never could stand the drive.
|
|
I would like to know if anyone even hit the target at 1000 yd. Its alot harder then most think. I have trouble at 800(308cal), But I can atleast hit the target/paper(man size).

Does the range yall were at have any caliber limitations? Just curious, might be time to break out the really big boy toys. Fer some reason that thousand yard target is just irritating me and im havin the urge to shoot it.

Fer some reason that thousand yard target is just irritating me and im havin the urge to shoot it. View Quote .50 cal is authorized at Tac Pro. Also, thanks to Rat44 for letting me run a magazine through his FAL. I learned a valuable lesson: Don't wear your high-dollar sunglasses as shooting glasses! Shooting glasses are there to keep sharp and/or hard things from going in your eye. It only cost me a bunch of scratches on my Maui Jims to figure that out. |
|
Hey, LT...
I KNOW you took more than jsut couple of pics... where are the rest? |
|
SHHH!
Hey, let's have a shoot at a 1000 yd range, and NOT tell Tippie that we are doing it! Won't he be jealous..... No, I know that he does'nt have anything else to do....who cares? No, Don won't tell him, don't worry. |
|
I feel compelled to point out all of the ROCKS in the berms... Oh yea, that's safe!
While they don't allow any ground level shooting, they do place bowling pins on top of rocks... That's right, I said ROCKS! Standing around that place (Tac Blow) is like listening to a bell choir, with all of the ricochetes whizzing around overhead! |
|
RM. I don't think anyone even shot at the 1000 yd. and Anti its ok you can come next time

I was wondering the same thing, the range rules prohibit ground level targets, but we were allowed to shoot the heck out of bowling pins, rocks, etc. We had to pick up all the brass as well. Interesting policy. However, everyone working together filled a 5 gallon bucket with brass casings in about 10 minutes. BTW, that one bucket was from one range only. The 1000 range, is subdivided into 100,200,300,500 ranges, I think. However, theses ranges are ALL downrange of the richochets (and there were alot of them) from the two 25-50 yard ranges. We picked TacPro because they allow Class 3 an 100 yard shooting. I think only 1 person shot at 1000 yds, and only 1-2 brought class 3's. The search is already starting for DFW AR15.com Winter shoot. Several people, my brother included, have offered to improve the amount of 'training' that occurs at the next shoot. More tactical shooting, a gun/knife retention class, etc. There was alot of informal discussion of techniques and shooting styles, etc. Basic pistol training, carbine use, maintenance, etc. were all discussed informally. |
|
Uncle Georges in Glen Rose is a very cool and C3 friendly range... So what if it only goes out to 100 yards, it does NOT have rock berms!
|
|
For knocking $10 off the range fee I was more than happy to pick up some brass. I do have to admit that is was great seeing the team work when cleaning the place up. I thought it would take forever but we got it taken care of in no time.

Hey LT... a lot of dig-cam pics come out dark. I typically lighten each one I post a little.
You can just load them in any pic-editing software (MS Photo Editor works fine) or any other freebie... possibly came with your camera? Or, you can send them to me, and I can do it if you think you got some good ones? |

View Quote I don't know that anyone was shooting 1000yds. We set up at 300 and had a great timeknocking the gong. After we got my 308 pss zeroed, we hit the 5in top of the gong about every time. Next time is at least 500 yds for me. Need to get my scope shimmed, It was dialed all the way up at 300 yds. BTW that 416 RIGBY was AWESOME. I hurt like hell after I pulled the trigger, but couldn't stop smiling. I can't believe I pulled the trigger again. (One last note, the bruise is not THAT big). This was my first AR15.COM get together, it definately won't be the last. I had to leave early to catch a flight, but it was a great day. WL |

Dude, I didn't even make it to the longer range that day.
Maybe we need to have two day shoots? I am definitely heading back out there to play with the gongs at 300 and 500. |

That would suck having to walk out to 1000 yards. I takes longer to walk than shooting.
|
|
Ummm...the same road that takes you to the shooting berms goes all the way to the impact berm.
But you COULD walk. Keeps those pounds off. |
