... and the Thirty Years War is raging in Europe.  What happens when someone shows up with a full-auto M16?  Find out here http://www.baen.com/library/0671319728/0671319728.htm.  The book is called 1632 by Eric Flint.  A group of Americans somehow get transported back in time to Europe.  Now they must survive.  You can read this book in its entirety on-line.  Really is a good read.

Thanks for the link.  I've wanted to read this for a while.  The books are available in other formats than html too.

Here's a link to the Baen free library home page:

As most of his are.  He mostly writes about war and is very knowledgeable on the subject.

Wonder if the guy got the idea from "The guns of the South"  www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0345384687/qid=1006174549/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_7_1/107-5666713-7599740

Where some men with AK47's go back and help the Confederates in the Civil war.

I love this kind of fiction. There is also a great one about an elite military unit going back to help fight the Alamo.

AR's versus Brown Bess's?

Your welcome.  Glad you liked it.  I didn't get much work done either while reading it.  Just like I don't get much done being on ar15.com!

The book "Guns of the South" was written by Harry Turtledove.
