Send me the rifle, and I'll take a few quality pics of it firing its' first rounds, and send 'em to ya!

A brand new, never fired, NI original B (you get the idea), PreBan Colt SP2!  I've had it on layaway for a few months, and tonight was finally the night I could call it mine!  Woohoo!  I can't wait to take it to the range this weekend.  I'll try to post pics of it tomorrow when I can borrow a digital camera.

Are you gonna join us at TacPro this Sunday?

What/where is TacPro?  Does anyone have any idea of how the Astro(Reliant) show is going to be this weekend?  I just got a new 16" M4 and I want to go down Sunday.  Another guy I work with wants to go and sell a semi Uzi, so we will probably be going down together.

The astro hall show this weekend is "the" show.  This is the one put on by HCGA that has 2000 tables or so...

Weird.  For some reason, the proxy I use to access the site from work does not allow me to view pics posted from the ar15.com forum member albums.  Interesting...

Anyway, congratulations on the new rifle.  I need to find a decent price on a Kimber to put on layaway.

I may head up there this weekend with the wife since we never get to shoot anymore.  Then again, Saturday is the gun show and Sunday is the final prep day for Thanksgiving, which is at our house this year. [:(]  No rest for the wicked, I tell you.

My FFL just got an SP1 in about 95%+ condition. He's asking $1300.

You gotta try Shooter's Station.  They may not have the best prices, but they treat you with respect.  Plus, they've gotta pay for that nice indoor range.  When I call them, they know who I am without me telling them.  I love that place.

Don't forget about DAvid at The Gun Store out in the 1960 area.  Good guy.  And he usually has a pretty good selection of "Evil" firearms.

Enjoy the new AR!!!

PS Do you ever shoot out at Hot Wells?

If this is NIB, why doesn't the handguard match the stock?  Just another Colt anomaly?

NIB?

And your ACTUALLY going to shoot it? Don't you realize what that might do to the resale value?

I've never been there.  Where exactly is it and what kind of range do they have?

It's outdoor.  290 and 1960 area.  Typical pistol.  Rifle to 100Yd.  Way laid back atmosphere.  Usually not very crowded which is also nice...

Ok guys, im stupid. This is a SP2. Explain the reason why this is worht alot. I knwo the SP1 was the first AR15 rifle for civilian purchase. And why does the side of the reciever say A2? Doesnt this rifle have A1 sights? [?]

Great looking rifle, congrats and good luck with it.

Where are the two places (Shooters Station & The Gun Store) mentioned above?  I'm in Kingwood, semi new to Houston, don't think I've heard of either one before now.

Looks like an SP1 but someone switched the pistol grip and hand gaurds with an SP2. Hope you didn't pay top dollar for that original SP1 or 2 ?

The SPII model 6500 was introduced in 1984 and should have the H-Bar and a forward assist.

The only way to find out for sure would be to E-mail colt for documentation. The only thing out of place on your sporty is the forward assist missing. Still looks sweet.

It's hard to tell you would have to remove the hand guards. The Colt is heavy under there.

It definitely is not the SP1 barrel. They are called pencil barrels quite obviously smaller. Then there is the standard and bull barrels.

Researched the barrel on the SPII it was not an H-Bar. Was a heavier barrel which you have.
Link Posted: 11/16/2001 9:31:25 PM EDT
[#49]
It is possible that some SP1 upper recievers were used on the SPII's. Other than the forward assist missing it appears to be all SPII. The A1 sights are correct for that model the barrel and guards are also correct. And NIB value would be about $1800. Then that first round you fire will be about $300 going down the barrel. So enjoy.

Man, there sure are a buch of Safe Queens around here.  I have never understood the purpose of buying a gun as an investment.  Any gun I own that can't be used for something other than appreciating in value doesn't belong in my collection.  It's a GUN for crying out loud.
