You can also buy a hard drive and stick it in an external enclosure. That is what I usually recommend. You can get a Vantec NexStar CX USB 2.0 enclosure and a 250GB Seagate SATA drive for around $80 total. There are dozens of enclosure options.
The WD passports are probably a good choice if you don't want to go that route. |

I did some reading on them last week. The Western Digitals are supposed to run good and cool, but are slower than some others.

LaCie and Seagate are more reliable.

I have 3 LaCie 250gb.
I have had them all for over a year with no problems. They run about $100. |

Recommend a 2.5" drive for moving around a lot. Having to grab the power brick can be a pita for the 3.5" external drives.
Saw a 250 GB 2.5" external USB at Best Buy for $90. B&M, YMMV. Searh Google, there may still be a 10% off coupon on top of that. |

I spent $24 for an enclosure, and put in an 80 gig that I pulled out of an old computer I had sitting around.
