Stages is one of the best driving songs ever.  They're always a fun concert.

Frank Beard could have "diversified" his beats on Eliminator a bit more.

I wonder why in the hell they have never come out with a decent live album...?!!

(especially when you look at what a major draw they were in the 1970's---80's...)

I prefer the 70s.

Fandango, baby!!!

Their music lost something when they put in that techno beat stuff.  It wasn't bad, but their music was better when it was drums/guitar/bass.

On the Johnny Carson show.

Check out Carson at the end of the show.

I thought the music lost a bit when they came out with the video's and the cars. Too bad they had to gimmick it up to get it played anywhere.

No good music in the 80's, bullshit.

It was the decade of sonic exceptionalism, we will never again have a decade that sounds like it. There were so many different styles doing so many different things.

ZZ's best stuff was from the `70's to very early `80's.  Deguello was their last great album before they went "disco" and started putting out dance music instead of their signature Texas Blues.  They did make a ton of money on that decision though, which I don't begrudge them. I could use a few extra million $ myself.

That said, their live concerts, even after the "disco" transition, are incredible! One of the best live bands ever.

ETA: And there was plenty of good music in the `80's. I just think ZZ's best stuff was from the `70's.

projectplaylist.com's search function only pulls up so much... a lot of ZZ Tops other music isnt available thru them I guess.

If Tube Steak Boogie had been found I would have it on my list.

I never said there was no good music in the 80's. I grew up and during the 80's, graduated HS in '85

Blues makes my life worth living.  SRV, ZZ Top, BB King, Eric Clapton.  They ALL had good stuff in the 80s.

My 17 y/o daughter loves SRV.  A couple weeks ago I walked by her room and she was singing along with Texas Flood.

Most of her friends haven't heard of him and she thinks that's sad.
