I remember there was a major website change and everyones member date was defaulted to Nov 2000.  What was the deal with that and is there any way to know your original sign up?

Funny, every time I see a member date above 2004 I feel old but I still see quite a few Nov 2000's.  Wonder how many discussion boards can say they've had so many members that long?

I was here in late 99/early 2000 with my original screen name.
I was computerless for a bit and when I returned in early 2001 it had changed.

I originally joined here and GlockTalk at the same time, in '99, I think. Something happened at some point and the GT went to 2000, and the ARFCOM account  stopped working and re registered some time later.

ETA, 2002 July I see...

I was around in the late 90s.  Didnt get back on until after the new year.

It would be kinda cool, if, for a fee, the mods could go back and credit you with your join date and post count from the old days.

But fewer than we'd like.

Not everybody got "defaulted" to a Nov. 2000 date.

I joined late in Dec. 2000 and had something like 6 or 7 posts when the board crashed. It took me two or three weeks to find the beta board. I remember finding it thru 50World (I think that's what the .50 board was called then).

So I have a Jan. 2001 join date. I had also been lurking for a couple years before I joined.

I came over from the old board, and someone from OK took my name, ( I let them have it, so it is all good) I dont know how I ended up with my 2002 date. I do know  that I have a mispelled name from day one of this board, but I never used it, and lost the Email address I had it set up under.

Come to think of it, I think the people with the Nov. 2000 join date were the initial testers for the beta board.

Yeah, plus i think you could buy a membership and get a guarantee of your old Screename, plus back dated to nov 2000.

Maybe, if I am remebering right.  That far back gets cloudy these days.

First signed up in 98 and didn't post much. Started back up in 99 and re-upped after the new board.

Didn't some folks like Eric the Hun get their old post count back when the new board went up?

I remember Garandman was PEEVED to high heaven about ETH seemingly getting phantom post counts.

(they were competing to hit 10,000 first or something)

Remember it took 200 posts before you lost "Junior Member" status?

That screen shot of the old board is interesting.  Look at all of the Frank_the_spank posts.

I wish I could forget ever clicking on his last (troll) thread.

+1

I started posting on the old board sometime in 1999, but didn't transition to the new board until early 2001.  I don't remember exactly what the deal was - perhaps the old board was still operating, and there was a gradual shift - or I was just confused or something?

I just didn't give enough of a shit to re-register until then.

I joined on the old board under a username I can't even remember now.  I still have the same email account.

Is there a way for site staff to search an email account and find the usernames that are registered to that account?  My isp has changed though...

If so, I would like to see my old username and register date.

How about it GoatBoy?  Is this possible?

I was here for around a year before.  I had often heard of the ar15 mailing list but never joined (I was on the C&R list).  What really got me hooked in 2000 was reading HiramRanger's analysis of the election (both before and after when the Democrats tried to steal it).
