Officer's daughter takes gun to grade school

A 10-year-old Briargrove Elementary School student was being investigated today for going to school with a loaded gun that belonged to her mother, a Houston police officer.

Houston Independent School District spokeswoman Heather Browne said the gun was confiscated after the fifth-grader bragged to classmates that she had the weapon in her backpack.

Officials refused to identify the student or her mother.

Browne said the incident is being investigated by HISD police and the Houston police department.
