I suggest that you consult a lawyer and make sure the files are expunged BEFORE you apply for a CCW permit.
If you are turned down for a clerical error, or some such, it may well negatively impact any subsequent applications, even though the original reason was bogus.
Do the recon FIRST, then proceed.

I am a full time gun dealer in Pa and i run into this all the time.  First Pa has very good gun laws, but there is one catch.  It goes like this....

If you look on the yellow form 4473(gun purchase form) there is a question by the feds.  Goes somthing like this.  "have you ever been convicted in any court for a crime in which the conviction could have carried a year or more even if the judge gave you a shorter sentence"(not exact words, but you get the idea).

Well the Feds consider any crime that you "could" have done a year or more in jail as a FELONY.  Here is the catch in Pa.  All misdomeanors in Penna carry at least a year of jail as a conviction.  Now, NO ONE ever does a year of jail for a misdomeaner in Pa, but it is in the law anyhow.  SO....the Feds consider it a Felony.

Now if you passed the Pa NICS system to buy a firearm.  You will pass the CCW backround too.  It is the SAME test.

Keep in mind.  In PA there is NO SUCH THING AS EXPUNGMENT!  Judges and lawyers in Pa like to tell people these things in order to get them to plea.  In Pa the only way to clear your history of a conviction is to go through the board of Pardons.  That means you need a pardon from the Governer himself.  NOT EASY!
