A simple question that I haven't seen addressed here.

When pulled over at night for any minor moving violation, before the cop approches my car, should I turn on my dome light?

Good idea or not?

In the past i've always made sure both my hands are on the steering wheel and visible.

You're doing all right, any movement in a vehicle during a stop at night or during the day attracts attention. Turning off the car is ok too. Gonna ask you to do that anyway. [:)]
