While attending a social gathering last night, following our local election,I was roped into a conversation about organ donation. To make a long story short, the person I was talking to made the statement"I think that the government should make organ donation mandatory,we dont have the right to keep our organs after we die, when other people can use them." Now,I have "organ doner" on my driver's license, but this attitude is disgusting. She later said that the government should have the power to force living citizens to give up a kidney when neccessary.

Needless to say,I left when I saw people agreeing with her.

Why do people want to be sheep?

Being a sheep is easy and low-stress. Someone else is expected to deal with the wolves.

What they either 1) Don't realize, or 2) Won't admit to themselves, is that where there are sheep, there is always a shearing pen and a slaughterhouse.

Long live the wolf. OWooooooooooooooooo!

And the government should force people to get abortions because we are overpopulated with morons like her. And tell people when and where to go pooh, and get their jobs for them and take care of their wages and buy up all the companies because then it would be fair business.  Does she know she thinks like a socialist (Nazi)?

Oh, sorry, just a little POed that she won't make decissions on her own and has to have the govt do everything for her.

re: sheep -

I read a newspaper column today by Ellen Goodman. It was about the threat of smallpox as a biological weapon.

Here's the LAST line of the column - "That's why they call war a pox on the world."

Best as I can figger, here's a anti-war, burn your bra, never grew out of teh sixties weenie who, inspite of the fact that a modern "governemt" (the Taliban) ATTACKED and killed 5,000 Americans, UNPROVOKED, she just can't conceive of a justifiable war.

Its not that they don't get it, it's that they don't want to get it. They hold on to their "beliefs" no matter HOW much reality slaps them in the face.

That same person probably feels we have no RKBA. They also probably take little to no responsibilty for their own actions, instead choosing to blame the government for things such as AIDS, poverty, terrorist attacks and such.

To quote Danzig from 'Tired of Being Alive':

"It's never easy, never clean
to be a beast among human sheep."

As Jarhead pointed out, sheeple take the easy way out and leave dealing with the wolves to someone else.

She also feels that if we have an overabundance of organs, that they should be sent overseas to third world counties, where they are so desperately needed.

Some people just don't want to be responsible for any of there actions. This is a product of that mindset.

Are you serious?!  With Ashcrofts ruling yesterday, I doubt we'd be able to classify it as a "mercy killing."  [}:D]  Seriously, I think this is why my mom and dad always warned against polluting the gene pool.  I'd love to meet the winners she calls mom and dad.

You should have asked her how many kidneys she has.

If she thinks the govt should have the power to force someone to give up their organs, I'm wondering why she's even waiting for the gov't to step in.  If its such a damn good idea, why hasn't she voluntarily given a kidney to someone who needs one?

Don't rag on her, shaggy.

She obviously already been generous enuf to donate her brain to science.

But let ANYONE suggest making abortion illegal, and I'm betting she SCREAMS "Keep the gov't out of my body."

From "Monty Python and the Meaning of Life,"
"We want your liver."
"But,I'm still using it!"

That would be an example of the govt forcing donation.  I hear it happens all the time in the PROC.

Oh, what a missed opportunity.

Her premise:  Others have a RIGHT to your body parts.

You: Really?

Her: yes

You: even while you are still alive?

Her: Yes

You:  I demand immediate and full access to the following three parts of your body.....[devil]

Hey, thats my kind of question! [:D]

Anyways, I think a lot of it has to do with "plausable denial". People just want to be able to say "uhhh....it wasnt me! It was his/her idea!", when something negative happens that affects their pathetic existence. Personally, I am torn between wanting the morons to wake up and quit flushing our rights down the toilet, and laughing at them, when they wake up in a few years and find out they have been left to the crows.

Where is she??? I'll be the first to kick her ass. Forcing someone to give up a kidney?? ok, I say she can donate her heart right now..no choice! And this is coming from a kidney transplant patient. I got my kidney from my aunt, and I will NEVER be able to repay her, but I wouldn't support forcing it either.

I like that reply button on top, makes it easy when the first post ticks you off.

I was in the DMV the other trying in vain to get a new copy of my license with my correct address on it (long, long story).  Anyways, the little videos they show while you are waiting on line made me want to puke.  100% pure Joseph Goebbels propaganda!  The best one was the organ donation bullhockey.

Nobody is going to tell me what I can do with my body, dead or alive.  My biggest fear is that I die and my organs get donated to some anti-gun wacko like Sarah Brady and they live even longer and cause even more pain and trouble for the rest of humanity.  Just thought of having organs that might be compatible with such lowlife garbage makes my skin crawl!  Yeah, I'm gonna give a lung to some asshole who smoked cigarettes all their life and ruined theirs!  Like hell!

The way I see it, and yes this is selfish, but the way I see it, human life is pretty darn cheap and unimportant (otherwise, why the hell isn't there more outrage over the US bombing the shit out of brown-skinned people around the world?) and it doesn't really matter that much whether any one of us is here tomorrow or not.  I haven't seen a point to life yet and I doubt there is one.  So I don't think I'd be doing anyone a favor by prolonging their miserable existence on this rock.  So I never make 3,000 posts on ar15.com.  I don't think anyone will care, least of all me.

As George Carlin put it:  "Do you really think they're going to try to save you after you fill out the organ donor info?  They're looking for parts, man!  So I told them they can have my rectum and my anus and that's all!"

pottsy,

I applaud you because you held back from spitting in her face.

I used to work at an Eye and Tissue Transplant Bank, and knowing what I know now I would never in hell donate organs or tissue. Not that they were disrespectful about the recovery of it, but talk about being pushy, greedy assholes... Lets just say that out of ONE tissue donor (no organs mind you) the company stood make easily $50,000 (a complete donor). The worst part about the whole process is getting the legal consent. Very pushy and guilt trip type attitude. Most people were/are pushed into donating because they were/are made to feel guilty. To hell with that.

The point is, I wasn't a donor before I worked there, and now I will never be one. I have told my family not to consent to any donation. It might seem selfish, but knowing what is involved, I don't feel any guilt. Also, it is interesting that about 75% of the people that I used to work with weren't donors either, and for basically the same reasons.

when conversing with people like that, I've had some success in explaining that the "government" is just some people. not the people but some people. why do they want to have some people they don't know have that much power over them. mostly equal opportunity strangers. she needs to be called to donate immediately.
