Was talking to my wife last night while watching O'Reilly. The comment came up about how interesting it was NOT to have our world/political views differ between 10 SEPT 01 and 11 SEPT 01, as so many obviosly have had.

Just a thought,

We don't have to change, why??? Because we are already right.

I don't know. I think that reality has crashed (pun intended) the socialist worldview for those that were fence-sitters and "Moderate" Dems. I think that there will be little tolerance for the crowd that espouses government protection at the expense of self reliance.

A little off this topic,
Those of you that are Gunshop owners, and instructors, should offer free/very reduced price familiarization and safety session for a first-time gun owner (10 to 20 minutes). I think that this would show support for their decision, that it was not a knee-jerk reaction. It would show and be remembered that we are NOT all "Right-wing-wacko-militia-types". Give them a copy of the Constitution with their purchase.

That is a great idea, 11H1P.  A constitution with every gun purchase. Damn that would go along way to making a point. To both congress and the gun buyers themselves.

Hay if every gun manufacture put one when they ship a pistol/rifle/shotgun maybe we wouldn't have this problem.  Include the Bill of Rights and the Constitution of the United States.

Yep that's right.  People who experienced the '92 L.A. Riots are now sitting warm & fuzzy in their nice living rooms. A lot folks have forgotten the terror of that riot.

I just feel that we have the responsibility (Remember, the Founders knew that Liberty and Responsibilty were inseperable) to be as proactive as possible. Agenda? Yes. Fact: The attack on this country's Citizenry was undefendable, and terribly tragic. Fact: A LOT of people subconciously as a result know that government cannot protect them completely- hence their resulting change of view- and purchase of guns.

NRA sells the pocket version of the Constitution, with the BOR, for about $1 to $1.50.

I would be willing to donate time to give a familiarization/safety brief during off-duty hours- my responsibility. The gunshops could do the same with a staff member. The donated time for those not associated with a shop could be posted in public places, fliers placed at Wal-Mart- you get the idea.

BTW, the Library of Congress gift shop sells nice parchment copies of the original Constitution and Declaration. I bought two sets of each, with shipping for $9.50. They are suitable for framing.

Seems that a set of each could be included with a gun purchase from retail outlets. Even with low-priced firearms, this little bit of history would do our fundamental basic tenet-Freedom- a world of good.

I think so.  I just wrote several requests in the industry forum.

I am regarded the same as BeerSlayer.  Everybody knows I enjoy guns, and before 11Sept, everybody regarded me as a nut.  Since then, tons of people have been askin me about getting a gun and training, plus other equipment.
However, people are starting to slip back into complacency.  It turns my stomach in horror to watch the people who shrieked at the images on TV while we all said "It is finally happening" reverting back to their little comfortable worlds where they are safe.

But they will never see things quite the same. I noticed people returning to life, but I do not get the horrified looks when I say "How could ANYBODY be a Citizen of this great country and be a liberal!"- the most common reaction now is a look of perplexity, then I remind them about 11 Sept, ask the "call the police, ambulance and pizza" question, and then get a small nod.

The out and out Communist/Socialist/Algore-types will never be satisfied until this is the USSA, but most just need little shoves here and there.

I read on this board a report of a news caster stating people should consider buying a firearm for self defense.  That would probably have put that same person in the unemployment line prior to 9/11.
