The Bushmaster (prefer 20" though for precision) and then use the extra $$$ for optics, mags & ammo.

True Kevin. Reason I picked the 16 in is for a coupe of reasons. I have been told by a few people including BM that the 16 is just as accurate if not more out to about 300 meters because the shorter barrel is stiffer. Also, the 16 in is a bit easier to mauver around in a vehicle, tight spaces, etc. Was thinking that if I got the 16in, I would eventually get a 20 in upper to have to swap on if I wanted to make a longer shot. Guess I should just stick with the AR over the SL8.

Hey, nothing wrong with your above statement, I have a 16" V-Match that I love and like it better than my 20" because of maneuverability. It's just when it comes to longer range accuracy my 20" is more enjoyable & more capable.

I would stick with the Bushmaster also.If you don't like the SL-8 as it is,you'll be rolling the dice with the SL-8-AR mag conversion.It is being done by Todd (aka Toad,Turd)Bailey at Special Weapons (aka sPeshuL wEPins).Mr.Bailey doesn't have a very good reputation in the firearm community,and I think he has been banned from every gun related message board on the internet.Several members that post here (especially SteyrAUG) can vouch for the quality of his work and public relations skills.

For me, a BM w/16" BBL. Of course if 10 round max mags on the HK SL-8 is with you wamt, then go for it, however it is not enough for me. I have seen a lot of vapor ware out there. If the AR15/SL8 mag adapter don't work out, ie you gets jams on feeding/extracting etc. then your are stuck with 10 round mags.

You'll also have to cut into the plastic receiver (voiding the warranty) to install the AR magwell on the SL8. Not worth it on a rifle made for target shooting, not blasting.

Well since I alrady have 2 BM's, I think you guys are right. I will stick with the BM.
Didnt know that about Special Weapons. Good info. Thanks for the input. Only other thing I thought about was the new Knights SR15 Match. Its on the cover of the current issue of Guns and Weapons for Law enforcement. Anybody had any experience with Knights stuff? All mine has been with Colt and Bushmaster. |
