Well not a bullet but a car. I woke up this morning to find skid marks in the street and in my neighbor's yard. Apparently, somebody was either drunk or fell asleep or both, and missed my Jeep Cherokee by about 10 feet, missed my next door neighbor's truck by about 3 feet, and nailed the truck sitting in the driveway of the guy two doors down from me, did one helluva yard job and kept going. Another neighbor saw it and gave chase. He got the plate number and turned it over to the police. I don't know if they caught the guy but I'll find out later. My neighbor has insurance but he's bummed about his truck and the $250 deductible to get it fixed. About 2 months ago, some guy was going down the street and his truck caught on fire and he pulled over in front of my neighbor's house to try to put it out. By the time the fire department got there it was completely engulfed, and the flames were lapping at the tree in his front yard. All the neighbors scrambled to move our vehicles out of the way. To top that off, the burned out shell of a truck sat in front of the guy's house for a week before somebody came and towed it away. And they say nothing exciting ever happens around here.

Something similar happended to my mom's car about ten years ago.  We got jolted awake about 2 or 3 in the morning.  Some lady had fallen asleep, swerved to the right, bounced off one neighbor's car, then rammed into the back of the next door neighbor's car, which in turn slammed into the back of our car.

My neighborhood isn't bad at all crimewise. But there happens to be a few bars a couple of blocks over, and people like to drive down the access road in front of my house to avoid driving on the main street. Sometimes the drunks walk home, and I could care less as long as they don't pass out or piss in my yard.

BTW, the cops found the car. It was abandoned a few blocks away but the driver was nowhere to be found. The guy who wrote down the tag number accidently transposed it, but now they got the car so it shouldn't be too hard to find out who the owner is.
