Well, not really. But this does bear quite a resemblance to what happened on 9/11.

I was lucky enough this afternoon to be free of obligation to the "man", so I put in the DVD John Carpenters Escape From New York.

One of the first scenes in the film depicts the cockpit of Air Force One after it was hijacked by a woman. She is screaming over microphone things like, "our revolutionaries will overthrow your imperialist empire to free this country", and other such ramblings. Also in the cockpit are two pilots with their throats slit...

She procedes to fly Air Force One over the New York City area, and crashes into a building fairly close to the former WTC towers. Although he goal seemed to be assassinating the president, and not to destroy civilians or tke down the building.

Still, the similarities are startling...

One of Columbine's Klebold and Harris's plan was to hijack a plane and ram the World Trade Center. I wonder if they inspired Atta.

Yeah, I've seen it a bunch of times...it's a favorite of mine, I like Kurt Russell movies.

But, back to the point...the movie has no basis for any inspiration of the 9/11 attacks. the plane crash in "EFNY" is not a terrorist attack, it is an attempt upon the President's life..it was Air Force One, not a commercial airliner. Also, New York city has been converted to a prison in the movie.  You should rent it or catch it on cable...quite entertaining.

Go watch Charles Bronson in Telefon, 1970's movie so the bad guy is Russian, but it paints a picture.

"Miles to go before I sleep..."

One of THE LONE GUNMEN episodes dealt with a plane crash into the WTC also. I belive it was by remote control on the aircraft.

Black Sunday anyone? Not the WTC, but portrayed a terrorist attack on a stadium on Super Bowl Sunday with a blimp.

yeah, I saw Escape From L.A. too....love the weapons, but as with most sequels...not as good as the original, but still entertaining.

I feel like a Kurt Russel marathon coming up... those two "Escapes" and "Soldier"....

Actually, I think "The Siege" is more closely related to the Sept. 11 attacks.

Decent movie, I rate it a solid B+.

Gotta love DVD. VHS stinks.

What's the name of that movie where a bunch of New Yorkers get together and run a couple of Arkies back to Little Rock?
