A friend of mine is in the SCHP, and we went out and shot his new pistol, a .40 S&W, uh,forget the model no. Anyway, it's a damn good shooting weapon, with very little recoil, and very accurate, but to me, that little lever on the trigger just ruins it for me. That, and I'm old-fashioned, 'cause I like a frame-mounted safety, and an external hammer. Glocks are good, well-made guns, but just not my cup o' tea.

Yeah..I'm a Glock man.

Currently have three in the safe; a G21, and G30 and a G19.

I find them to be ultra reliable, accurate, built well and I don't have to baby them. Easy to break down and clean, they can go anywhere without me having to worry about rust.

Both the .45's that I have are the best .45's I have ever owned...and I used to own quite a few 1911's. The 9mm that I just bought is fast becoming my favorite.

No external safties to mess with, it's basically a point and shoot gun.

Back when Glocks first hit the USA, I still had an FFL and I had one of the first to be sold in the US. What a piece of crap. Lousy accuracy, that goofy trigger, and the rear sight fell off about half-way through the first box of ammo. I traded it for a S&W Model 29 (yes, I should have kissed that guy first) and have never owned another since. Every year, I qualify with 50-some other deputies, and every year there are problems with Glocks and 1911s, two guns of supposedly legendary reliability. No thanks, you can keep the Glocks. I'll take an HK USP for a polymer framed autoloader instead.

I bought a G19 back in '90. Problem I had was it would eject about every 5th-10th casing straight back into my forehead. What complicated things was the *hot* reloads that I was shooting; those emptys had quite a bit of velocity.

Figured it just needed more breaking in, so I kept putting rounds through it. I'd have to shoot it with two sets of shooting glasses, one over my eyes and one across my forehead.

Put a few hundred more through it with the same results, then I caught an empty in the forehead that drew blood [BD] . Traded it in that day ....

Picked up a G27 not long after I got my CCW permit, and was disappointed that my reloads wouldn't function through it. Didn't help that my USP Compact would eat them up all day long.

Despite this, I'm going to stick with the G27 as I can't find a comparable, complete package CCW weapon like it.

Yep. Glock 17. Great tool.

However, my Kimber Custom Classic Stainless is a beautiful weapon.

Hey, I'm just a one track mind kinda guy (although I have no idea why anyone would want a USP - but that's another post)..I have other handguns to round out my collection. I'm quite fond of my Springfield TRP...and even my SIGPro..but I have a warm spot for my Glocks...they truly are a "fire and forget" weapon.

Glock man here to. CCW a G26/nite sites. never failed to perform. 2 spare pre-ban 17rd mags gives me 45 rds of +P+ JHP in a few seconds [-!-][:D]

I have used Glocks for 12 years in law enforcement and wouldnt have anything else. Have had 3 17's, a 19 and now am using a 23. Only problem I had was on my second 17, the tigger bar would sometimes not catch on the firing pin. Found it while function checking after cleaning it. Sent it back to Glock and they replaced it with a new 17. Not long after they had a recall on Glocks and replaced the firing pin and trigger bar setup and it solved the problem.

We have a large number of Deputies with Glocks and they are consistently the most reliable guns at our range. The Smiths malfunction constantly and the USP fits awful in my hand and for me is un-ergonomical.

I use a 34 in USPSA. I dont use my usp for that anymore. The Glock is very accurate and runs. I use factory fodder in it. S&B 115.

I have a Glock 17 and a Glock 27. They are both easy to use, accurate, durable, and ultra-reliable.

I've also owned a Beretta 92FS and a Sig P229, and they are excellent, but as a fighting pistol a Glock is the better choice.

I bought myfirst Glock, a 17, back in 89' or 90'.

Bought my Dad one after that.

I carry a 27 with a few mods and it has never failed to perform with reliability, effeciency and accuracy. Never MF or FTF.

To me Glocks, along with HK and Sig are some of the best handguns in the world.

I have three. A 30, a 27 and a 22. Like them all. No problems at all, except once when shooting reloads. As noted above I had some FTF problems with the reloads. Never had them come back in my face though. I would bet it was the reloads, and not the weapon.

Glock tells you specifically to not use reloads, and never use lead bullets. So if you reload that could be an issue.

My first Glock, a G21, shot very good with lead, H&G 68 I believe. It was a 200 gr SWC bevel base in front of 4 grs of Hodgdon's Clays with a CCI standard primer.

Mine is a Glock 23 with Trijicon Nite Sites. Out of the box, no mods, it's very accurate. Can anyone say that with a generic, out of the box 1911? You can spend more money than the original price of the gun, customizing a 1911 just to be accurate.

Hmmm let me do some Chinese Math here. Glock 19 and 23 with Trijicon Nite Sites at about $575.00 each = $1150. A Springfield Tactical Response Pistol (TRP) at $1275. One gun, two guns, one gun, two guns? I KNOW, TWO GUNS. Nuff said

lets see........out of the box Colt enhanced gold cup....I paid 570bucks....will shoot anything in 45 auto.....will a glock...nope. More accurate..yep.

out of the box Kimber custom combat... 550 bucks....as good as the gold cup?....pretty much.....will shoot anything in 45....will a glock...nope......more accurate...yep.

You golck guys definitely got us on the "ugliest gun" contest though:-)

Its kind of like cars. If you want something that will run most of the time but and you don't care about things like body panel gaps and other minor details that reflect the quality of a product get a GM. If you want a quality car get a Honda, BMW, etc.

Well, Glock is the GM of the firearms industry. It usually shoots fine, blows up in your face ocassionally, and is crude in its construction. If you want a QUALITY polymer pistol get a HK USP.

Glocks are great. I've owned just about everything else and like most quality firearms, but the Glock beats them hands down.

I've sold everything else I owned too and shoot Glocks exclusively these days. Never had a single problem, even killed my buck this year with a Glock.

Very accurate, always works, easy to upgrade (recommended) and easy to clean. Light, no rust, high capacity, no fiddlin with safeties, hammers or 'nuthin, just point and shoot, right now, no worries.

Hey Golgo..how are you liking that HK USP? I just bought one today (in a trade..not the Glocks).

USP...got rid of the SIGPro...I'm gonna save my pennies for a classic. But the HK USP looks like a great gun, and I've heard some tremendous things about it.

Whuddiya you think?

HK USP's are great pistols. They may have equals, but none better.

As for Schlock's, no thanks. Maybe after an HK, SIG and possibly Walther and Steyr.

I've seen too many in more than one piece.....unintentionally.

I think the USP`s are one badass pistol, my only gripe with it is the mag release, I prefer the trad. thumb kind. It`s a small point but thats it. Absolutly rock solid, a true combat pistol.

Just so you know where I'm coming from, I own these pistols (note, this is not a complete list):

Glock 17 9mm
Glock 19 9mm
Glock 26 9mm
Glock 21 .45
HK USP .45
Kimber Custom Target (1911) .45
CZ 75B Miltary 9mm

If I had to choose only one of these, and it might potentially be used in any or all roles (carry, combat, self-defense, match use, etc.), I would pick a Glock, probably the G19.

Why? My Glocks, which are totally stock except for steel Trijicon night-sights, are utterly reliable in all conditions, are extremely tough, and are plenty accurate (10 shots @ 3" @ 25 yards with 124gr Fed Hydra-Shoks).

Most beautiful pistol? No. Most accurate? No. Most reliable? You betcha.

Glocks are great and very reliable. You might need to be a little more careful with what you feed it because of the unsupported chamber, but as long as you feed it good factory ammo and watch for things like bullet set-back, you will be cool. And if you're super worried about it, there are at least 5 aftermarket barrel manufactures offering barrels with supported chambers, which allows you to shoot reloads and unjacketed bullets safely.

Furthermore, you can convert any of the .40's to 357 sig with a simple barrel change and possibly a magazine change. There's even talk of modifying the 45's to handle 45 super and 400 CorBon. That's pretty versatile.

My list of Glocks and HKs consists of:

Glock 22
Glock 23
Glock 27
HK USP 40C
HK USP 45C
HK USP 45F
HK Mark 23

At the range, I find myself wanting to shoot the Glocks more than the HKs. I don't know why. I think it's probably because the Glock has the more consistent trigger pull. I can never get that good first shot with the HKs due to the DA/SA action.

Glocks are simple and reliable. You can't go wrong with them. And they're cheaper than HKs.

I used to own a Glock 23. I liked the gun but it just didn't have the safey features I wanted. When I bought it I wanted a Sig but the guy didn't have the one I wanted so he talked me into the Glock. He didn't have to twist my arm hard though!

Okay, I love my Glocks and my HK USP compact. Now, what is a good, reasonably-priced (smirk) 1911 that I don't have to spend thousands of dollars to customize. I want to try the 1911s. Probably making the same mistake I made when I bought a Corvette - all those catalogs just to make it right, stuff that should have been fixed or corrected right in the factory/assembly line. Good ole made in the U.S.A.

my first semi-auto was a browning hp. i love that gun. accurate, well built and all in all a classic piece.

the about a year ago i got a glock 17. WOW! now that is a fantastic weapon...everything the hp is and more.

dont get me wrong...i still love my browning. it's just that glock is another classic.

really happy i have them both.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Sig Sauer pistols. My first and only pistol is a Sig Sauer P220. Accurate, rugged, has never jammed, safe, feels natural, points well in my hand, good trigger, and it looks good.

I don't like Glocks for several reasons:
-They don't feel natural in my hand.
-The trigger feels screwy to me.
-The safety lever on the trigger doesn't feel right.
-I like to see the hammer.
-Somehow the plastic frames feel cheep to me.
-To me, Glocks look ugly.

These are personal issues I have against Glocks. I'm sure they are fine guns, just not for me.

I like 1911s and was thinking about buying a Kimber, but I decided to buy an M1A instead. After I graduate and start getting an income again, the Kimbers in the adds in American Rifleman will start to call to me. “buy me”... “buy me”... “please put ammo through me”....

Glocks are my favorite. Even though the dimensions are similar between the 17/22/31 and 19/23/32 they feel like totally different guns.

The Glock is nice, and they have made improvements over the years. I carry the Glock 22 at work. Off-duty, I carry a Makarov. The Makarov is more accurate, and in my experience, more reliable than the Glock. And the Mak is a heck of a lot cheaoer.

I love my glock21(preban)yes, 13 round mags! I have fired 1000 or more rounds out of mine, no jams, no misfires, no double feeds! I LUUUUUUV! it! it is what i carry on duty as a state Constable when serving arrest warrants and writs! that said i also love my 1911 Entreprise arms double stacker! it is not as reliable as my glock but it drills neat little holes that future rounds like to go through too!(in other words "it could shoot the di** off a flea and leave the balls intact!")
