Limbaugh said on Monday’s show: "I can see possibly not supporting the Republican nominee this election, and I never thought that I would say that in my life."

The reason: “You don’t have a genuine down-the-list conservative” among the GOP candidates.

“Wherever you go here in this roster of candidates, you're going to be able to point out ‘not conservative, what he did there is not conservative’” Rush said.

The Republican front-runners want the nomination “because it's their turn,” he also stated. “We tried that in '96 with Bob Dole and now they're running the same scenario…

As has been stated so many times before, if the best the GOP can come up with is Romney, Huckabee, The Manchurian Candidate, or Giuliani then they have abandoned the base and will lose, no mystery here.  The 'R' party has abandoned me, I didn't abandon them...

But Limbaugh’s remarks are not quite so surprising in light of statements he made about GOP candidates Mike Huckabee and John McCain last week:

“I'm here to tell you, if either of these two guys get the nomination, it's going to destroy the Republican Party. It's going to change it forever, be the end of it. A lot of people aren't going to vote. You watch.”

Which is exactly what I think needs to happen.

The only reason the Republicans have even been a viable political force since 1992 is because of that guy you have no respect for. What have YOU done, by comparison, to ensure our side got control of Congress and the Presidency?

I'm with Rush on this one, as almost always. If this field of candidates is the best the GOP can put up, and the moron people are willing to vote for, then maybe we DO need four years of another Carter to remind people of how bad it can be.

I will not be voting Republican this year. I'll be voting anti-democrat. There is a BIG difference.

It doesn't supprise me.

The one person who has done more to destroy the GOP is the current head of the Republican Party, President Bush.  All that are left are RINO's or Compassionate Conservatives.

Now we will get to see what a real liberal does in guberment with Hildabeast or Obama.

I predict that Hillary will get the nomination with Obama as her VP unless he just steps on his dick then we will end up with John Edwards as a VP.

I understand wanting a truly conservative Republican candidate, but if the choice is between Hillary or Obama and whoever gets the Republican nomination...how can you not vote for the Republican?  Are you thinking that there is going to be a third party candidate that is a better choice?  It seems to me that Hillary and Obama just speed our plunge to the bottom, and not voting makes it more likely that one of those two will be elected.

I count myself as a conservative and am pretty sure that there are not enough of us at this time to get a true conservative elected President.

They're also not surprising in light of the fact that during the previous election cycle he played the whole "You have to vote Republican or you're stupid" act then came out afterward and said he was just trying to avert a bigger than expected loss and next time, they're on their own. Everyone knows by know that Republicans are willing to not vote for the kind of candidates the Republican Party has been running.

Hewitt: Third issue, the "left wing machine," when it comes to guns, want more and more control. The "stand patters" like the assault weapon ban, and the 2nd Amendment, the "American Solutions" people want the right to own those weapons banned by the assault weapons ban. Do you support allowing individuals to own those weapons labeled assault weapons under that law?

Newt: Well, if you remember, there are a number of weapons under that law that are not assault weapons, and the law the way it was written in the Clinton administration is an absurdity. And I think people proved that at the time. And I voted against the law, and in fact, I helped stop it at one point.

Hewitt: And so how would you…what weapons ought Americans not be allowed to own under the 2nd Amendment.

Newt: Look, I think we ought to draw a clear distinction about a whole range of weapons that are explicitly military, and I have no interest in arguing or defending the right of people to randomly hold weapons that are that extraordinary, except under very, very unique circumstances.

Hewitt: All right, so basically, return the right for some of these higher caliber weapons, but keep the military weapons away from…

Newt: Right. I just think, you know, if you said to me would I feel comfortable if my next door neighbor had a 50 caliber machine gun, I would say no.

   Hewitt: Yeah.

Newt: And I realize that for a purist, that probably means I’m a squishy on the 2nd Amendment. But I do think there’s a line of practicality here. I’m also not very much in favor of them buying M-1 tanks just because it amuses them.

Those of you who "gave up on Rush" because you thought he was a GOP lapdog have OBVIOUSLY not been listening over the past 8 years.

With the exception of the WOT (and in some cases, even in that), Rush has been SHREDDING both Bush and the GOP for being weak-kneed RINO's. The fact that he has ALSO been nuking the liberasls as even worse (which they are) should not be confused with a blanket support of the Republicans (note that I didn't say "Conservatives").

He's just as disgusted and dispirited about all this as we are.

I think the only reason he hasn't just come out and told the GOP to fuck off and die is because that would guarantee the dims getting the victory. He's trying to make them wake up, and we'll have to wait and see just how far he'll go to do that.

No - "We The People" do by electing our REPRESENTATIVES.

Remember, about 80% of the population, given the chance, would vote to remove all guns except a bolt action .22.  They're sheep, and have no clue what the 2nd  or any of the Constitution is about.

Democrats are eventually going to gain the White House anyway. How about letting the Republicans know now that they can't win without the support of gun owners in swing states like Florida, Ohio, and West Virginia. Didn't Reagan give us the full-auto ban in '86? How about the "sporting purposes ban"? Wasn't that Bush 1? Did anyone catch the anti-Guiliani ad in Shotgun News? I'm done voting for candidates just because they want to enslave me "less". enki
