Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Alternate callibre AR15's for military applications

I was wonderind if there was any concensus [among armchair's, like myself] about the merrits of alternate "rifle" callibers for the AR15, such as specifically 6x45mm or 6mm PPC or .300 Fireball/Whisper.

I was told some time ago that Germany was playing around .300 whisper for a silent G36. Then after I heard that they came out with that SL-8 thingy with the integral suppression and .30 something callibre subsonic rounds... I obviously don't recall the stats.

Anyways, what'ca'all think about the subject?
