So far, I've only had one child stop by for candy. Last year, I ran-out of candy before 7 PM. Are you guys seeing the same thing? Are the parents too scared to let their kids out? Have the times really changed that much?

I was just wondering, because I feel a bit silly sitting here in a costume by myself with several pounds of candy.z

I live in the ghetto. Without being racist... anytime you have a chance for FREE... well...

The streets were packed a while ago. I am sooo glad we live in a top story loft.

Not much here either. Took my little girl over to my folks' neighborhood and went to a couple of houses and came back over here. A lot of people have their lights out and a few said they didn't really plan on any trick-or-treaters so they didn't get any candy. Didn't see ANY other kids out. I think everyone is going to things at their churches where they can control the environment.

I'm going to have more leftover candy than usual. Seems like some of the local churches are having their own halloween parties and that might be where the kids are going.

Only four doorbell rings so far. I hear some groups walking by but they're being selective where they stop. Guess I need to move the leftover body parts out of the garage.

We have had less than half compared to last year so far. Most quit in our neighborhood by 8pm and its now 7:30. Our police dept has a big party and expect low turn out also. Our 11 year old has flu so cant go but we would have taken to family and friends as in past.

We have had probably 50 kids. The candy if flying out the door! We got 12 bags and I hope I have some left for hunting. I am so glad to see so many kids.

Hhehehe... one kid was dressed up as an army man and had a toy AR. Gotta love it!!!!!!

1900 here, and so far only 2 rings...first a bunch of little Spanish kids that didnt speak English, and then one lone local child.....but it is early still.
I liked the suggestion of one of the folks here to offer double candy if the child knows the pledge of allegiance.
So far no one can do it :(

About the same as last year. We stuck a lightstick in our jack-o-lantern and placed it outside - the eerie green glow is a hit.

Only about 15 kids this year where we usually have about 50 - 60, but it was raining pretty good tonight and I got soaked when I took my kids out.

We had a slow start, but they're coming pretty steady now. I just love to see the little ones. Oh, and we had a couple of black labs, too. One wearing a D.A.R.E. t-shirt, and the other one was a pumpkin. Had to break out the jerky strips for those two! [:)]

Oh man, we would have had a LOT of fun at your house when I was a kid!

It's still kind of early here in California, but Halloween traffic has been slightly lighter than last year.

I hope it picks up.

Well, zoom... we only had about 12-15 trick or treaters. Bummer. We usually have at least three times that many. So we, like you, have a ton of candy downstairs.

It sorta bums me out, but maybe the parents know best. It was a long, long time ago when we ventured out on Halloween with our pillow-cases... we would go for miles, and when the pillow-cases became too heavy to carry, we would go back home, dump the candy on our beds and head out for more. Times have changed, I guess. But we did have some cute kids tonight. Still worth staying home for.

Hard to tell...

Last year about 150. This year about 90. However, it was damp and cloudy, so hard to be sure.

The real shame will be if we teach our children to be scared of their own shadow rather than just be aware of what goes on around them.

The Wife said 68 kids this year, about average. It was my year to take the kids door to door. Beautiful midwest evening, 65 degrees with no wind. Compared to last year when it poured buckets and the Wife and kids got drenched. (The boss is still peeved about that one {chuckle})

Doorbell rang about 7-8 times. Not many people out at all. Lost of little kids in the neighborhood and the streets are usually covered, more cars than people through the neighborhood tonight.

Yeah traffic was down noticeably. Maybe 1/4 of what we had last year. I stayed home and dressed up rasta for the kids.

On the other hand our three Mutant Offspring (5-8-10) CLEANED UP!! Lovely Bride walked the neighborhood with them early and they got more candy than I ever saw. She said it seemed like folks really wanted to see kids this year. Or maybe its just cause its a small Texas town.

Yep, we have had a lot of trick or treaters. That is good to see. I do notice the parents seem to be a little more cautious.
We have a lot of kids from poorer neighborhoods trick or treat our street. That is ok with me.
I hope they got a lot of good SAFE candy!

Same thing here Arock. These kids'll be having sugar rushes till this time next year. People did seem to be happy to see the kids this year. Biggest difference I saw was that more folks brought out their hay trailers for the kids to ride from place to place. I guess living in a small town has it's perks.

I finally had another visitor. It was a boy about (wild-guess) 10 dressed-up like Aladdin. I didn't think that was such a good idea considering, but I didn't say anything. I bought 11 bags of candy for tonight, so I asked the kid which one (entire bag) he wanted. His mother gave me an [b]evil[/b] look. Oh well, the kid was happy. I still have 10 bags full of candy. I'm going to be the hero at work tomorrow.z

In my dorm we are seeing a huge increase in the number of kids (we are apart of a safe trick or treat program). Last year I had six bags and only one kid came around. This year I bought two and I was out an hour after they started to come around.

Not a one and all those ice cubes I wrapped in paper are beginning to melt. At least I didn't have to give out all my ketchup packs this year. I should have just gone down the street to the nice single brunettes house to see if I could get a trick or a treat.

And darnit Sweep I knew you were just hiding when I came by. Next year I'm bringing the thermal sight, so you can't hide.

About 40-50 here which is a normal crowd.

BTW, one of our local radio talk show hosts said what his kid's friends were dressing up as: One kid would dress as Bin Ladin with a missile pointed at his head and the rest will be Army Rangers!

In our neighborhood there were very few. Normally there are tons of them when we leave to head to the in-laws to trick or treat there and then give out the in-laws candy so they don't have to get up too much and to visit. My mother-in-law generally buys $50-75 of the good candy and we usually give out most, if not all, of it. Tonight there were bags and bags of it left over and we had less than 50 trick or treaters all night. In their neighborhood, where there are usally about 60% of the houses giving out candy, I counted only 12.

We had a lot less kids here than last year just some friends, if nobody else has used it for their quote line perhaps: We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail would be a good one. If we alter our way of living by depriving our children of the holiday ten I guess the bastards have won. Personally I won't change a thing about the way I live this is the United States of America and we can still do whatever the hell we want to do we did'nt ask you you towelhead bastard!

I got 53 at my house, and my finacee got 62 at hers. Maybe a little lower than last year, but not by much.

I bought WAY too much candy! If I don't give it away, I'll gain 10 pounds!

The turn out was about normal in this small midwestern town of 14,000. Beautiful night, cool and no wind.

I dress up for the kids and light the yard in black light and spashes of red and green floods. My house (it's just about 100 years old)looks like your typical haunted house when I fire up the fog machine! Man I love the fog machine!
I refuse to have the kids suffer for what use to be a really fun night.

This is my country and I'll be damned if I'll let some raagheads ruin it for the kids in my neighborhood. My local Rotary club also posts members at certain steets so the kids can get around safe.
