For those who aren't familiar with TM, it's an organization that lets you practice public speaking. I recommend it highly; I've been a club officer twice, and can tell you all about it.
In any case - I'm thinking of giving a firearm-related talk to the TM club. One problem is that most members are Democrat - but, to their credit, when I mentioned I owned an AR-15 one time, I didn't get a lot of flak.
We also try to avoid politics, which I think is a good idea, so I'd like something relatively neutral.
Some topic ideas:
- the AR-15 "sport utility rifle." I'd explain why it is so popular - all the accessories, being able to assemble one yourself, that it looks cool, etc.
- a summary of Heller vs D.C.
- the history of the AK-47.
- "how I got into guns/why I am a gun nut." 'nuff said.
Ideas are welcome, that's why I am posting here :-)
