Ok, I've pretty much managed to complete most of the books on my reading list. I'm hoping you guys can suggest some good choices based on my taste. I don't really have any interest in non fiction at this time. I enjoy action, scifi and fantasy books, but would be willing to try something new too.

Recently, I've read World War Z, the two Eragon Books, the Princess Bride, Lord of the Rings, Dune, etc. I'm looking at I am Legend right now.

Anything else you guys would suggest?

The Forever Hero

The Magic of Recluce and its sequels

Any books by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child. I particularly liked Riptide and Thunderhead.

If you like fantasy books, have you tried the Dragonlance Chronicles. I am not too big of a fantasy reader myself but I really enjoyed those books.

Island in the Sea of TIme by S.M. Stirling ... first in a trilogy. Cool alternative history/SHTF kind of sci fi book ... lots of great action. Very cool exploration of how people with knowledge of modern technology might make their way without modern conveniences (electricity, gas, transportation etc...). The book gets bonus points for a subplot involving a bunch of tree-huggers sneaking off to warn the indigenous people of meso-America of their coming subjugation by the Europeans, where things don't quite work out the way they'd planned. Additional bonus points for some girl-on-girl action.

Synopsis:
A cosmic disturbance transports the island of Nantucket and its inhabitants over three thousand years back in time to the shores of a Stone Age America. In addition to coping with the day-to-day problems of survival and the trauma of losing all connection with the modern world, the residents of the time-stranded island find their lives complicated by the presence of native tribes across the water. Stirling's (The Ship Avenged, Baen, 1997) imaginative foray into time travel should also please fans of alternate history. A good selection for most sf collections.

I agree with Ender's Game. One of my top ten of all time!

If you are looking for a great series (and little known but with a huge cult following) read the Repairman Jack books by F. Paul Wilson. Start with The Tomb and go in order - they absolutely kick ass! Sort of an urban mercenary meets the X-files.

WWJD? What would Jack do? I don't know, but he'd probably use a flamethrower (or his Glock 19) to get it done!

I very highly recommend "Lonesome Dove" by Larry Mc Murtry.....Iam not a big western novel guy,but this is one of the best books ever.

Gary Zaloby's A True Ranger about the life and career of Robert Rogers of Rogers' Rangers Fame. Excellent research, extensively endnoted and well written. Simply the best account to date about America's first commando.

George W. Peck How Private George W. Peck Put Down the Rebellion. Autobiography about the misadventures of a Yankee sad-sack newspaper editor, who, having never read a horse, is conned into joining a cavalry unit. One one patrol, he and his horse are chased around an abandoned race track by a Confederate whose horse is also into racing. Their horses finally stumble and they fall into a heap. After getting up, they yell at each other. "Why'd you chase me?" "Why'd you run?" The Confederate turns out to be a former newspaper man and they sit down, have supper together and part ways in the morning with each telling their comrades how they fought single handed against hordes of the enemy. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll cringe with excitement as you read about the mishaps and misdeeds of Peck and wonder how he survived, yet alone become a governor!

Funny part, it's mostly true.

House of Leaves, Mark Z Danielewski, skip all reviews, skip the Amazon wannabe reviewers, seriously don't page ahead, just read the book.

And you can't go wrong with Chuck Palahniuk. Start with the obvious one, fan out from there. Haunted is not for the squeamish.

Scifi ways try Alastair Reynolds Revelation Space or Iain Banks Feersum Endjinn

Motherless Brooklyn is good but not exactly in your...EAT ME BAILEY...categories

Made it through any Kafka?

Oh hell, I'll take suggestion from anyone who is familiar with the aforementioned. IM so as not to poop in the OP's thread.

I AM LEGEND, follow that up with 1984. Both awesome books. I AM LEGEND is better though.

The Jack Aubrey, Dr. Maturin series by Patric O'Brien.

Master and Commander is the first one.

This is an excellent 20 book series, it's interesting and you learn a lot about the Napolenic period and about sailing and fighting square riggers.

If you read them...Google and Google Earth are your friends.

"The Forever War" by Joe Haleman.

It is about an infantry-driven war in which there are significant periods travelling near the speed of light... so when the war ends, he's 1000 years in his own future, but biologically only 10 or so years older .

I bought it for myself and "The Daring Book for Girls" for my daughter.

I just started reading Londonistan. It's non-fiction. About how the UK is being taken over by militant Islam.

On the fiction side, I just finished "I am Legend" as the movie tie in.

Try "Flight of the Old Dog" by Dale Brown. It's military/techno. I have several of his books and love them all.

For fantasy try David Eddings (I absolutely love them all) -- he has two, five book series with two compendium books -- first series of five books is The Belgariad and the second series of five books is The Malloreon. The compendium books are "Belgarath the Sorcerer" and "Polgara the Sorceress". He also has a couple other series with different characters that I really like -- The Tamuli & The Elenium.

If you're a Star Wars fan -- The Han Solo Trilogy is a must read, and all of the Timothy Zahn books (I think there's seven now).

And if you like Tom Clancy threre's -- "Debet of Honor" & "Executive Orders". Loved those two books.

I been reading the Best American Short Stories series for awhile now. If you like short stories, they come out with one every year. I've been back ordering the past years and have read every book since 1998 - 2007. The 2007 was edited by Stephen King.
