I would have posted this in the Cars/bikes section...  but there is little traffic over there. (I hardly visit much myself)

The Corvette Z06 is now a confirmed and documented 10-second car.

Here's a guy that just did it this weekend in a bone stock car on the factory tires.

UNBELIEVABLE !

And it probably has a racing transmission with slicks.

I don't care what someone in the internet says. I'll believe it when I see it.

Why didn't they kick him off the track after he posted a higher time than permitted?

A roll bar is required in any convertible running 13.49 seconds or quicker in the quarter mile, and in other cars beginning at 11.49.

I guess my track(s) are more "saftey oriented".  Nice runs though.  Doesn't look like I'll be beating a stock ZO6 any time soon.

They will be more reasonable on the used market in about 4-6 years when the new greatest vet comes out.

Not a performance comment, but I do like that the Corvette got out of the body style rut they were in from '83 to '96, and in '97 started with designs that IMHO were competitive with the Italian cars.  I personally think the '05 to '07 Z06 are sexy as hell.  Again, based on looks not performance.

ETA: I have 109 pics of 'Vettes from 1953 to 2007 is anyone is interested.  It's just under 12 MB total.  Many are excellent resolution, a few are small.  If anyone wants to make a Corvette screensaver, I can post them to my website as a zip for download.

Sounds like one good driver who had a great day at the track...that's about it..this car has run mid 11s on youtube and in the car magazines over and over again...still huge for a stock car

I've got some pictures of my 4 year old son sitting in a Copper colored Z06 at a car show last year..Ear to Ear Nose to Chin grin

The price of the Corvette is a lot more reasonable than the European cars it trashes.
