The wife designed a logo for her business and needs to copyright or trademark it.  Any ideas on how she does that?

I don't think you can copyright a logo, only ideas and such.   Copyright's easy - it's automatic.  You can even put the c inside the circle if you want.

Trademarks are harder.  You have to file forms and pay money for a trademark.

When you create an original work you own the copyright to that work.

but to sue for copyright infringement you have to register with the dot-gov.
