How's this for an old-timer....

This is Blue, my 17 year old Blue Heeler mutt I've had since he was a pup.

We had a close call with a severe liver and kidney infection about 2 months ago, but after the antibiotics and diet change he seems to be back to his normal self.

Best dog I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.

This one is always happy to see me home from work. Can't say that about the other two females who live in our house.  Small sized Border Collie she can run with the best of them. I have an attachment to my bicylce and 3 miles of hard on full run is just a warmup for her.

Here is my mutt. My father found her in the middle of a busy street in front of the pound when she was around six weeks old. Some bastard appearently didn't want to wait for the place to open and so they just left her on the sidewalk in a paper bag. She is ugly, big, untrainable, afraid of her own shadow, and stupid (interestingly enough she was my Dad's dog until these traits developed). She seems to believe that when we take her for a walk the choke chain will loosen up if she just pulls a little harder. She will pull until she is weezing like an asmetic, and her tongue turns blue. If you aren't careful walking her can involve ten foot strides and moving at 30 MPH. At least she is good tempered and we love her.

Kyle, I have this problem with my two big beasts. They are bred for pulling after all.  Look into getting a "Gentle Leader" or a "Halti".  Personally I prefer the Gentle Leader as it is more adjustable, has a better instruction booklet, and I think looks better.

It controls your dog by the nose rather than the neck.  Dogs will automatically go toward resistance, so if they feel resistance on the front of their neck, as with a normal collar or choker, they will pull.

These things have made my life MUCH easier.  He will resist at first, but let him just work through it and you will be good to go.

Cute pup, good luck. [:)]
