Pat is right: This site IS the best.  The only other site with as calm and mature a GD forum could possible be FNFAL.com, but they seem to like to whine about "Who is Jen?" (Jen is their anonymous moderator).  The rest of the sites seem to be havens for people who can't quite get a firm grip on reality.  No flames intended for those who like to play on all the sites.
As evidenced by my name, I had a bad taste in my mouth for the AR.  When I was working for Uncle Sam, there was a logistics mix-up and there was two rifles in the armory with the same buttstock number.  The extra rifle was from Echo Company (I was in Alpha). The rifles, naturally, had been disassembled multiple times a day everytime they checked it out, so it was in less than great shape.  I would check out one rifle, be shooting just fine, then check out the other the next day, and not be able to hit anything.  I didn't much like the rifle.
However, as I explained, the quality of this site was such that I registered here for the calm, rational discourse, and haven't registered anywhere else.  In my daily reading of this site, I went from "No way in hell do I want that rifle" to looking at prices of them at the funshow last weekend.  Congratulations, you have an AR convert [:D]
