I'm for it, but GB should keep the over18/unmoderated forum topics from showing up on the main page.
I have to say, I was at work when the first scat attacks hit, and at first I was disgusted, and pissed. As well as I was worried if anyone saw my monitor with that crap on it, and concluded I'm a freak. But after seeing three or four posts and all the people complaining, I couldn't stop laughing. I had to explain to others what was happening since I was laughing so loud. And soon was laughing hysterically whenever I'd open a normal sounding thread and get that awful crap. And the more I think about the whole thing, the more amusing it becomes. There had to be hundreds of people throughout the country going ewww, WTF at the same time. [>:/][shock][:X*][puke][:D] |

it's a good idea, but how do you enforce it?
or did you mean it as a way to let viewers know that some material may not be suitable for children (to avoid opening an otherwise innocent looking thread) rather than limiting the age group that can post? on the otherhand, what's to keep future scatmen from posting that crap on the non-18 and older board? just some details to iron out. |

I don't think it's a good idea. I don't think porn is something we want associated with this site, and I think those in charge have made that abundantly clear. And I agree with them.

You are CERTAINLY not alone in this opinion) There are PLENTY of other places to get and enjoy that sort of stuff. Do you go to Walmart and ask them to put the Castrol 10W40 in a different color package for you?? Do you go to Sears and ask them to redesign the shirt they are selling into the style you like?? NO. If you like what they are selling, you buy it. If not, you move on. Why is AR15.com ANY different??? If you don't like the way teh site is run, move on. You WILL survive it. I don't like the Babe threads, but I wasn't petitioning the Mods and Goat to re-shape it in my image. People criticise me for trying to force my beliefs on others SIMPLY because I type them out here. Seems to me it is THOSE people that are guilty of trying to FORCE their beliefs by essentially DEMANDING they get their garbage in here, or they will leave. For my $$$, I say "Buh-bye." YMMV. |

ok, i'm confused. some sick pervert decides to spam the site with excrement, and suddenly everyone panics, locking and deleting completely unrelated threads. why? i dont see the connection.
the mods did a decent job getting rid of the "Ill" one, and suddenly there's chaos here. i come here for the firearms info and the general tumult of ideas(some of which i find objectionable), and though i do take a look occasionally, "babe of the..." isnt a big part of that. i'm just curious, why the knee-jerk overreaction? anyway, it's goatboy's site, he can do what he wants with it. that's freedom. |

Forums Conduct Code: The following is an evolving series or rules for conduct on the forums. All moderators feel free to modify and/or contribute to them. CONDUCT GUIDELINES 1) No racial slurs or comments. This isn't about being "PC" it's about respecting each other. 2) No inappropriate pictures, links, or topics. 2a) Nudity is acceptable if it is linked and preceded by a warning. This means simple adult nudity. There should not be links to anything above and beyond simple classy pictures. Posting of pictures without links should be done with pictures which do not reveal parts of the human anatomy... 2b) No linking of porn sites to the boards. There are millions out there..we don't need to link them all here. Striker 01/10/15 2c) No linking of innapropriate material. This would include sites with information on how to make illegal modifications to firearms, purchase illegal items, view illegal porn, hate sites, and so forth. 2d) No innapropriate topics. This includes all of the above and further covers topic titles of a racial nature, sexual nature, or violent nature. A good example is the "Babe" or "Hunk" of the day posts versus "Fetish" or "Sex Story" of the day posts. The first two are acceptable, the last two are NOT. 3) Threats of violence against another member written in a serious manner. (If its a joke, make sure that point is VERY clear.) 4) No pissing matches. Its fine to disagree, but once a thread has run its course, and degenerated into little more than an insult fest, it will be locked. Garandman - 06/15/2001 5) Fraudulent practices or attempts to defraud another will lead to account suspension and banning. This is in direct reference to items offered for sale, trade, or leading someone on as a buyer. (Backing out of a deal is one thing, stringing someone along to torture them is not.) This also applies to people posting fabricated lies about another user or business. If you have a real issue, discuss it, but don't make up lies because you're upset with someone. Goatboy - 07/07/2001 6) Pure trolling. Either to piss someone off or simply for your personal enjoyment. If you're here to cause trouble, it will be a very short stay. 7) No personal attacks towards ANYONE. If you have a problem with someone, then take it offline with them. If it's with a member of the staff or a moderator, then contact someone from the Senior Staff. Attacking a person, ANY PERSON, in a non-joking manner (clearly visible as a joke) will not be tolerated. Joking and teasing are fine, but if you cross the line, apologize before things get worse. This includes provoking someone into an attack. AR15.com is intended as a home for ALL AR15 owners, where ALL civil, productive and positive discussions are encouraged. Anything not meeting these objectives will be stopped. Any of these violations will lead to your account being suspended. Kharn I've been there, and don't EVER recall seeing ANY porn or semi-naked ladies. Most you'll get there is the expletives and bitching and moaning that is standard fare for the GD forum here. While it is unmoderated, it is FAR tamer than than the GD forum. Lets just say FAL FIles has a more self-disciplined membership. |

1) Your complaining did NOT bring back the post count... a few members and staff who emailed me quite well thought out and written emails were a big part of why, but in the end the goals were able to be kept (I hope) with the post counts being able to return. (GOAL = NO USELESS UP MY POST COUNT SPAM!!!)
2) Like I've mentioned several places, there are many things in the works and ideas being thrown around and discussed. I am a person of thought and planning. (Ok, most of the time anyhow!) I am involving a number of people in these discussions who are open minded and not rash. I will let you guys know what's on the plate in another post shortly... 3) The forum disclaimer already has an AGE AGREEMENT on it... there's no way to enforce this type of thing because anyone can enter any age and simply LIE to get in. 4) PORN and NUDITY will no longer be allowed in here PERIOD. I don't care about swimsuit shots, etc and I will clarify if need be. The key is if there is something showing (including see through clothes shots) then don't post or link it. If you feel the need to swap nudes or links, go into chat or email each other. Like I said, there's things being discussed to help the site along, this is typical that things go wacky every few months and that we respond in a tight assed manner... simply a reaction. Posting topics like this (how many 2, 3, 4 by you? Does NOT help the situation... |

M$, it's sad to say that because of the inability of a few people being able to decide if something is "showing" in pictures and thus should NOT be posted... I've strengthened my stance to disallow those pics even as links at this point.
I do not want to waste any more time having to go through 30+ page posts and wait for pictures to load JUST so I can make sure people aren't being dickheads and are following a simple request. It's unfair to myself and everyone else to continuously have to baby sit threads like that... |

Just for arguements sake, how many other [i]major[/i] sites do you think would allow half the topics and posts that have been here? Try "Babe of the Day" on TFL, GlockTalk, or AssaultWeb and see just how long it lasts. Bitch, piss, and moan about how you've been wronged by not being allowed to post it there, and see how long your account lasts.
The more freedom that GB has allowed in what has been allowed to be posted here has resulted in some folks pushing the envelope in what people post. Before you start with all the PC and First ammendment complaints, I ask that you please remember that this board is owned and operated by the Avila's, and it's entirely within their rights to expect us to abide by the rules of conduct that they set. If we don't like it, we don't have to stay. |
