Offroad, the point is that you don't own the AR15.com domain, the servers that the name points to, or pay the bandwidth necessary to run it.  As such [b]YOU DON'T GET TO MAKE THE RULES![/b]  Neither do I for that mater.  Ultimately, Goatboy does, and if he doesn't like something that we do then he's completely within his rights to ask us to not do it or leave.

I guess some of us are having a hard time differentiating between martial law and basic tact.  No one here would go over to Goatboy's house and start acting like a moron, so why do we think it's ok to do it on [b]HIS[/b] web board?  Hopefully most of us would have the decency to not go out in public speaking in oscenities and flashing the centerfold of nudie magazines at people.  Even in the Babe of the Day thread, people couldn't follow the simple rule that if a picture contains nudity, then it should be a link with an appropriate disclaimer.  It won't be fun when the site gets shutdown because some teenager, and there are plenty on here, gets caught seeing some naked woman by his mom and she raises a hissy fit and decides to do something about it.

Sure, we can still joke around and do most of the things we've done in the past, but we must also be mindful of the other people who read this board.  None of us is more important than the rest of us.  And ultimately what Goatboy says goes.  His house, his rules.  If you, I, or anyone else doesn't like it then we shouldn't be here.

OffRoad, the things you mentioned, while common, are not things people do in public.  You don't generally see people speaking to a group and swearing.  You generally don't hear people making racist or sexually explicit jokes in front of a large group of people they don't know.  You're trying to apply the rules that you've been using with a small group of buddies to a large group of people.  It just doesn't work.  Do the things that are generally accepted here make more sense now?z

GBT) No one is contending the rights of the site admin's to set down the rules as they see fit.
What often comes into question is "why" some things are done.
They have the right to do whatever they want to, but without members, there would be no site. The members at least deserve the basic respect to have the actions of the mods justified. Yes, this is thier site- But [size=4]WE![/size=4] are the site, and as such, deserve consideration for it.
This isn't Goatboys house. This is a public web board.
Look at it like a bar. His bar.
He has the right to throw out those who are getting obnixous, but it doesn't make sense to throw out everyone just becasue they are drinking beer. After all. That's the nature of a bar.
Same goes with a BBS.
Those who are doing things for shock value deserve to get whacked. But those who are exchanging ideas (even if unpopular) shouldn't be disturbed- Since the exchange of ideas is the whole point of a BBS in the first place.

The problem resides when the mods go on thier little slash and burn campaigns. I think they are thinking "I'LL SHOW THOSE DAMN MEMBERS! THIS'LL KEEP 'EM IN LINE!"

I have no problem with that.  Some of the topics that have been locked for obvious reasons if people have actually read the code of conduct.  Some have not been so obvious.  I've been on other enthusiast web boards, and they at least have the courtesy to make a post detailing why a thread is being locked or moved before doing so.  The moderators here should do the same, if only to satisfy the curiosity of those who will scream "WHY WAS MY POST LOCKED?!"

Personally buddy, you posting the same rant over and over again isn't going to win you any friends.  

Also, I firmly agree with GodBlessTexas.  The fact of the matter is you opinion doesn't really matter, Goatboy's does.  With that being said, I believe this sight requires active participation in an as unfettered enviornment as possible in order to generate some great discussion. But you must recognize that there are clear boundaries which must be set to make the site more than a bunch of monkies flinging their feces at one another.

If you actually read the conduct code its pretty fair and simple.  I mean who can argue with rules against pure trolling, fraudulent practices, and general self-restraint.  Now, everyone knows I have committed my fair share of offenses on the board, but my still being here should be testament to the fact the moderators are in fact quite lenient and will tolerate most anything that isn't terribly offensive.
