I posted this in the Colt forum, which apparently only two people read, so I thought I'd try here.

Can anybody tell me when this rifle was made?

Colt SP-1, serial# SP1 886XX.

Unfortunately that list stops at 1978. The first s/n in 1979 was SP98801, so 455SD's SP1 was made in early May, 1978.
