I'm here in Georgia and in my particular city, speeding tickets are a main source of revenue. I'm talking 5 miles over and you're history, no breaks or at least I don't get any.

Since I just had an at fault accident last year (otherwise perfect driving record) I don't need any tickets.

So what's the best radar detector out there?

Two words:  Valentine One.

Absolutely...Valentine One.

It tells you how many signals and most importantly WHERE!

I had one in my 2001 Nissan Maxima until someone else broke into it.

Valentine One is nice but it's no K40. Hell, what am I saying? They are almost the same thing.

Best one for under $200 would have to be the Escort Solo. I have one in a two of my Porsches and they haven't let me down.

Some of the LEO's could tell you.  A radar detector detects radar, but when the radar gun is off, you can't pick it up. They'll just flip on the radar gun and have your speed before you even hear the radar detector go off.  I used to ride crotch rockets all  the time.  The best way to get out of a ticket is to keep the tach at redline while facing the opposite direction of the police.  But... in most vehicles(to slow) they'll radio ahead and be able to catch you.

 40-14-8.

 (a) No county, city, or campus officer shall be allowed to make a
case based on the use of any speed detection device, unless the
speed of the vehicle exceeds the posted speed limit by more than ten
miles per hour and no conviction shall be had thereon unless such
speed is more than ten miles per hour above the posted speed limit.

Valentine One is still the best, but if they're bustin you for 5 over... go to court and get it dismissed.

Valentine One rocks the world of radar detectors.  Suree, troopers might turn their radars on and off but that hasn't been the trend in my state and all the ones surrounding it.  Even so they will probably flash the guys ahead of me, giving a good strong K-band spike or two to warn me.  The directional capability of the V1 gives you situational awareness like you wouldn't believe and cuts your false alarms in half.  Get the Valentine.

The Valentine One is by far the best I have ever used.  Once you get used to it you can figure out lots due the way it shows you what direction the radar/laser is coming in from.  I have also found that it is sensative enough to pick up most instant on radars when they hit cars ahead of you warning you of that situation also.

I'm totally happy with the Cobra cordless I've used for five years.  It has saved me a few tickets, and when I travel it goes right into my shaving kit with an extra mounting bracket.

I've heard the same about the Val's... But, jeez, $400 ! I'd rather just drive 5 over or let some guy "birddog" for me.

There are a few different models of Radar "Jammers" on the market, can't recall who makes them.

A "Jammer" Jams a Coppper's Radar Gun Readout.

At first the Gun reads 2 Miles Per Hour, then jumps to 500 MPH, then down to 213 MPH then quickly jumps to 387 MPH, etc....Making the Radar Gun Inoperative....and a "Jammer" is Legal in many States.

Valentine 1? Piece of Cr*p compared to a Radar Jammer.....
