Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Acrylic AR?

On my way to work this morning I started thinking how cool it would be to build a lower and maybe butt stock out of clear acrylic.  I see it used for all kinds of things these days, like computers. ( I-mac )
What do you think?

That would be totally cool, but they would have to use something strong like Lexan with metal guide rails. Ordinary acrylic would shatter and propell the barrel down range.

Imagine watching the internal components of the AR-15 cycle rounds while you shoot. I am sure that it will get clouded with carbon from the gas system after 100 rounds.
