Wife got it at the library and we started to watch it with the kids.  I have never seen it before but quickly realized it could well be a snapshot of my father's ancestors in the late 19th century and certainly was set in the nearly the same place.  They were from Vilnius so not too far away.  Kids were somewhat bored for a while but stuck with it when I explained things to them a bit.

Interesting point.  When the government agents came to terrorize the folks, my son said, Dad?  Why didn't they get their guns and defend themselves????  I said son,  They were not allowed to have any!!!  I said Your great great Grandfather lived through that.  That is why when he came to this country,  he ensured that everyone in our family knew how to shoot and had guns.  Very profound and visually struck home.

Honestly, I think it gave me alot of insight into my Grandfather and why it bothered him to a degree that my father married outside the Jewish faith.
