Does anyone know if the Empire State Building is privately owned? If so, and I'm guessing it is, the owner(s) have the right to shine whatever colored lights they want on their building in honor of <whatever the hell> they want, right? So many here rant about "rights"--then want to complain about someone else exercising their rights on a building they own?? Incredible. My wife wants to decorate our house for Halloween this month. Anyone gonna rant about that?

This is not the country "catering" or "pandering" to anyone. It is some guy who owns a building lighting his building up to honor whoever appreciates it--and those who do appreciate it are followers of the religion with the largest following in the world. He does it for Christians and he does the same for Jews. To all--should we pass a law saying he can't light his building up in honor of religions? One religion in particular? Where does the fascism end? This is a PRIVATELY-OWNED building being lit up by its owner, and one who does the same for other religions. I don't think this is the country's Waterloo. Sheesh, get a grip. It is, after all, truly a first amendment issue--" . . . or prohibiting the free exercise thereof . . ." |

According to the internet (it never lies you know), Peter L. Malkin currently owns the Empire State Building. He purchased it from Trump and some Japanese guy
New York City is a lost cause anyway. My unit used to get snide remarks from New Yorkers while deployed there conducting homeland security. Many New Yorkers have completely forgotten September 11th and HATE anyone active in deterring terrorism. After all - "Homeland Security" is just "Bush's Goon Squad" - just ask a a New Yorker. They're just as backwards as the pinko commies in Boston . These are the same people who elected Guliani and Bloomberg.
