Buy new Chandler home, drive a Lexus - free

Would a builder giving a free two-year lease on a Lexus sway your decision on buying a new home?
Would you like to drive a Lexus for two years - for free?

All you need to do is buy a home in Chandler's Fulton Ranch development and a leased Lexus comes with it.

Cachet Homes, a luxury home builder, is partnering with the car maker for a promotion called "Live and Drive in Luxury." The builder's incentive to buyers is one more example of the sharp turnaround in the Valley's housing market.

From Friday to Oct. 21, anyone who buys an inventory home in any of Cachet's 12 communities in the Valley receives a free two-year lease on a Lexus IS250, valued at more than $14,000.

Cachet communities in Chandler are Crescent Falls at Fulton Ranch and Serenity Shores at Fulton Ranch. Homes at Crescent Falls range in size from 1,975 to 2,489 square feet and sell at prices starting in the mid-400s. Home prices at Serenity Shores start in the high 200s for sizes ranging from 1,326 to 1,893 square feet.

Cachet spokeswoman Alison Bailin credits the builder's advertising firm, The Lavidge Company, with coming up with the Lexus promotion.

"Our advertising firm was trying to come up with creative ideas, ways to market our product that would be different but still be luxury," she said. "We wanted to partner with a luxury brand, and we thought Lexus, perfect."

And you don't even own it!

In large part, the housing slump was brought about by an industry that encouraged people to make stupid financial decisions - and now the industry is trying to get out of the slump by encouraging people to make more stupid financial decisions...

Just wait until the builder goes under and oopsie -- doesn't pay the lease payments any more!
