[ARCHIVED THREAD] - How do you put swivel studs in synthetic stocks?

I realize this is probably a really dumb question, but I don't know the answer and I figure someone here does. Here's my problem. I have a 10/22 with a synthetic stock, and my 870 that does as well. I want to put studs in them so I can put on a sling. I don't want to buy new stocks. What stud kits should I use, and how do I do it? All the ones I see are for wood. Do those work, or do they just strip out because the plastic is so thin?

What if you can't get into the stock? I don't see how to remove the butt plate from my 10/22.

I put studs on my ruger 10/22. Use the same ones for wood. I added a dab of epoxy to both the front nut and back screw.

Been about 5 years and no problems.

Yep. I have regular wood studs in my 10/22 synthetic, no problems.

FWIW, you can purchase a special kit for the 10/22 carbines that has a stud that installs on the barrel band screw in the gap in the band. This eliminates the possibility of the front stud pulling out.
