AVG for anti virus, Zonealarm for a firewall, SpyBot for spyware, hidden behind a router.  I figure that'll stop the casual g33k out to ruin my day.

I restore to my last Back up Image. This completely reformats the drive nuking anything any anti-virus tool might not detect in their Virus Definition Files.

If you go this route Ideally you want:
(a.) a Baseline System Image with your Apps
(b.) Weekly (or Daily) System Backup Images.

Store the Images on a Partition or CD.

exactly what I use

Tried AVG for a bit when I got a new computer, I went back to Avast after a couple days. AVG seemed pretty good, but it didn't give me enough controls.

Ad-Aware has yet to pick up any spyware on my computer after about 2 months. I guess if I never click on pop-ups there is nothing to clear out. I spend 90% of my internet time on arfcom anyway.

Ditto.

On my wife's puter I run Avast and Adaware.  Seems to keep her out of trouble, she just surfs, not too much downloading.
