Didn't know it was an AR-15
30 rounds, I thought those guns always jammed & were too wimpy to kill people. |
They should be dropping in on the American Psychiatrists Association bulletin board rather than here. He could have just as well driven a pickup truck into a group of teenagers. Find out what made him snap, not the tools that he used to seek his pathetic resolution.
Maybe some screening requirements will come out of this, probably not a bad idea. |
As soon as I saw the cop used 30rds in the rampage, I knew the AR is very likely 100% to be used. Here's more ammo for the liberals to try another Clinton ban
It's a "Police Style" Ar-15. It's totally different from what us peons own. |
Yup diffrent throat! Just like the Chey Tac... |
I wonder if the rifle said "For Gov/LEO Use Only" on the magwell?
What is a police style AR-15?
Backwards Aimpoint? Tacpo Rails and tac light? AR pistols with no iron sights, no handguards and underbarrel beamz? |
Don't forget "mag facing backwards"... |
Shoots around corners, tumbling bullets.... |
I hope not. That makes them twice as deadly! |
I looked at one inside a glass case before, it was terrifying. |
through school walls.... heat seeking..... nun targeting.... |
Yeah the police style AR's have that "shoulder thing that goes up"

By the Brady standard we as citizens should demand the total disarmament of Law Enforcement. |

Candidate for post of the year! |

Then again, a firearm was used to put that dirty dog down, too, saving teh taxpayers beau-coups bucks and making his community safe again. Was it the gun or the shooter that was at fault? Was he a civilian or a LEO?
Anyone know if perhaps this was a department issued rifle? If so, then it would be an actual POLICE AR-15, not a police-STYLED AR-15.
Indeed - they have special training for this kind of stuff. |
I don't think they've said yet where he got the rifle. |
And if it is a dept. weapon, I doubt they ever will. |
Wouldn't "police-style" have an extra long sling - to fit around a gut?
Yes, it will be used as more fuel for another AWB. Nevermind that anyone with a badge is exempt from such laws and he'd have gone on a rampage regardless. Any time there's a shooting, they always want to punish the people who DIDN'T do it. |
Being serious for a moment, i don't really see this as a dept issue weapon. It's a SMALL dept in a rural area. Most of those are poor as dirt and it's a case of "bring your own". Now, they could have gotten a HD grant. |
Too bad someone with the same "style" rifle didn't stop him...
The dangerous Police-Style the kind that should be banned, NOT the civilian version of the AR-15 edited to add: Police-Style rifles also have the Tactical Doughnut Holder attachment. |
Oooooohhhh. |
Wonderful....First thread I look at after getting back from my friendly neighborhood gun store...BTW did I mention I just ordered a new Ar10?
I think the press will persist until they get an answer. Now, whether the investigators are truthful is another issue altogether. |
Probably was personally owned. It could have been something from the dept. armory, maybe an SP1 from "back in the day." That is the only scenario, in my mind, that it could have been Dept. owned. |
Man, I just got finished telling a friend this wouldn't be a gun issue because the media doesn't have the balls to call for cops to be unarmed. I was hoping this was his duty weapon. I know that may be a bit sick, but it would be better for our 2d protection if it was a state/county-owned weapon and not a privately owned weapon. And now that it's an EBR...

What are WI's laws? He was 20 yrs old. Here in MN "assault weapons" are covered on the same Permit to Purchase as pistols and obviously you have to be 21. Both would have to be Dept Issue.
On a side note. What the hell is a Sheriff's Office doing hiring 20 yr old deputies? He was also a PT Officer with a local PD. At 20 you don't have anywhere near the amount of life experience necessary to be a good effective cop. I started when I was 22, and after just 3+ yrs I can say that I was too young and naive. Luckily I had my shit squared away enough to get through it in one piece and w/o going ape-shit with my "police style AR15". |

The issue of his age has been discussed at length in this ongoing thread about the incident. |
