Just got my Canadian C96 masks today. It takes Nato filters, but only accepts filters on the right. Since the filters are good for 6-9 hours (?), how would you change filters after that period?

I was looking at some other masks, such as the Isreali, and am not sure how you'd change those either.

Are most masks like this? Or just the Canadian ones? Any help would be appreciated.

Unscrew the filter and replace it with a new one...

Make sure to breathe out then hold your breath while changing filter.

First take a deep breath change filter then clear {exhale} and check {cover filter and inhale}.This discharges any air that has gotten into mask and assures the mask is sealed properly when you inhale.

Is this the procedure with most military gas masks as well?

... one very important thing to remember about mask filters is:

... (and to a positive degree) ... the more "particles" trapped in your filter the better.
Kind of like "Alumina Seal" for small radiator leaks,

... gets you out of immediate danger !!!
