This probably is not for civilian use, but what other kinds of bull-pup type guns are available to civilians besides the Steyr AUG/USR and the BM M17S?

That is an FN P90, if you can find one, they are around $9000 and then you have to import ammo, plus tax stamp and about 4 months wait while the ATF tries to find something bad about you.

Other bullpups, Mini-14 with bullpup stock.  My mind just went blank on rifles, but there are a bunch of manufacturers that make "Street Sweeper" type bullpup shotguns.
Good luck,
Ice

Good Lord, they can keep it.

Looks ugly, awkward etc.

I'll stop there before launching into the "Whoever thinks cops are better than anyone else can kiss my a$$" tyrade.

i dont know. you can try n look it up though, the terrorist group Tupac Amaru did the hostage taking. There was a long negotiation time during which the good guys secretly dug a tunnle to acces the house. During the raid 1 good guy, 1 hostage (heart attack) and all the terrorists [-!-!-] died.

Actually, 2 members of the Peruvian Army Special Forces died. Lieutenant Colonel Juan Valer Sandoval was killed when he jumped on top of Foreign Minister Tudela when he noticed that a terrorist was about to kill him with an AKM, bullet´s tore thru Sandoval´s  body armor but the minister survived.

Lieutenant Raul Jimenez Chavez was killed by booby traps, the booby traps were like a labyrinth in that area on the second floor where he was killed.

Only one hostage died during the rescue, a supreme court judge stood against a closet door which was riddled with an AKM by a terrorist.

The soldier on the left has an P90 with a suppressor

Do you know why their raid was successful?
They used Janet Reno Plan "B"

I fired one a couple years ago in the O.P.P. Headquarters range. It was a demo put on by F.N. with a hands on,live fire of the suppressed and non-suppressed weapon. The 50 rd.mag on top took awhile to load, but not too long to empty. It's located on top under your cheek and can be replaced pretty fast.It fires a round called 5.7x28mm out of both the P-90 and an auto pistol. To mount the suppresser you just slip it over the flash hider and tighten it up.With a little practice you could hold a burst on a sillouetteat 25 yds.Report was less then a .22.
Being a bullpup your hands felt awkward being so close together. It breaks down quickly and easily for cleaning into I think 5 assemblys.

Here's a link to the FN site on it, there's also a companion pistol, the FiveseveN (as in 5.7x28mm)  there is an airsoft version of the P90 if you must have one =-)  if you are LE they run around 1250 it seems.

what sort of law could ther be to prevent an American ammo manufacturer from producing a similar cartridge for a pistol made in the U.S.? if they ban it just becasue its fast, then they would have to ban .223 ammo. not to mention hot loaded .357 sigs, .357 mag, .357 maximum. .45acp 117grn by auguila-and all other auguila hyper velocity ammo. the .45 117grn pushes at about 1500+ fps. just imagine the speed of the 9mm alloy auguila rounds!!

speed kills...and so does accuracy

5.7 ammo is made to penetrate body armour, and still take out the bad guy.

The 5.7 round is for LEO and Military use only.

The authorities have deemed the 5.7 to be a non-sporting type of ammunition which would serve no realistic purpose in the civilian population except to kill.

Hey J3 - The augusta dealer was SOCOM MFG, he's the FN dealer for SC;  they've got some great toys if you ever get the chance.  The FNP90 is LEO, the ammo is HEAVILY restricted, and that mother is very cool!!!

P.S. - Sounds like your in the area so tell me where I can shoot a good tactical rifle match.  I need the triger time. [HEAVY]

From:http://members.tripod.com/~Slippery_Jim/Firearms-Frames.htm
Fabrique National P90:
The FN P90 was developed to be a replacement for the conventional Sub-machinegun, specifically for military use. The goal was to develop a weapon that could easily penetrate body-armor, was lightweight, small, had a large magazine capacity, and low recoil. The P90 and the cartridge that it fires (the SS-190) were the result. Capable of easily penertrating body-armor, the P90 has been adopted by numerous government agencies all over the world, although real large orders have not been placed. Its most public appearance so far was during the siege on a Japanese embassy: Whe nthe Embassy was stormed, security troops shot the terrorist leader with a P90. Right through his body-armor.

The P90 looks highly unconventional, with its top loaded magazine, polymer construction, integral sights, and its unusual stock. The weapon uses a simple blowback mechanism, and the entire barrel/bolt assembly can be lifted out of the weapon in seconds. Attached directly to this assembly is the sight. This is a non-enlarging scope, and it features a recticle which is highly visible in all but the very poorest of light conditions. For emergency use there are normal sights on either side of the scope. (the P90 is fully ambidextrous)

When the magazine is loaded there are only two ways that dirt could enter the gun: through the barrel, or the ejection port. But the latter one is located on the underside of the weapon, which makes it unlikely that much dirt wil enter the gun. A side result of this is that the cartridges are ejected downward.

For those who fear of tripping over empty cases, one of the many extras available is a case catcher which can hold one hundred empty cases, and snaps onto the ejection port. Other available extras are lasers, lamps, and silencers.

The magazine for the P90 holds fifty rounds of SS-190 ammo.

Only available to military and law-enforcement. This is because of the armor penetrating qualities of the weapon. In a RPG this means that the weapon wil be hard to find, and that ammunition wil be scarce and expensive (Unless you are a member of the Spook Squad off course...).

Weight: 6.6 lbs (3 kg) loaded
Caliber: SS-190 (5.7 x 28)
Barrel Length: 12 inch (30 cm).
Full Length: 19.7 inch (50 cm).
Action: Unlocked blowback, fires from closed bolt.
Mode of Fire: Semi-Automatic + Full-Automatick
Rate of Fire: 700 rpm
Range: 656 ft (200 m)
Magazine: 50 rounds
Cost: $1250 and $1850 with integral laser sight.
Made in: Belgium
Special: Polymer construction, lightweight. High performance cartridge. Very ergonomic. Many accesoires available.
