Awesome pics.
The Mustang was my Grandfather's favorite bird. He flew them in WWII China. One of these days I need to get all his pics scanned in. |
Awesome, Airacobras to Lancasters..
What's with teh 5 bajillion F22 pics though? |
My first time seeing it live. They hid it in one of the hangars before and after its flight, so I didn't get any other pics of it. |
Very nice, now I am even more stoked for Nellis in November!!!!!!!!!!
The P-51A "Polar Bear" is wearing the markings it carried during WWII. I think that it may be the only warbird that I know of that is painted exactly as it was when it was new.
If I recall correctly, it was used for Artic testing, hence the name. |

Oh, sure, the frickin' J model Hercules gets the flying show, while the legacy model gets to sit on static display.
Sorry, I'm a biased toward the T model. That overpriced hunk of hardware known as the J stole my unit's thunder and we're likely not to return to the sandbox before we transition to the J. You can't have 45 million dollar aircraft performing the same mission with equal or greater efficacy than a 65 million dollar aircraft. It's bad for the bean counters "KC-130J. Anytime. Anywhere." (except Al Kut during daylight hours) |
Awesome! Thats really something to see a Lancaster flying.
And my heart always skips a few beats when I see the P-40, that was my childhood favorite. |
Outstanding pics and many thanks.
Did they get their 100 flyable Mustangs to attend? |
great pics!
Was the Jap plane a zero? I dont think i have even seen any WWII jap aircraft at any airshow. |
HEY! That one's from my base... 179th Airlift Wing, Mansfield Ohio. I'm in maintenance, aircraft electrical & environmental systems.
Don't worry... she's one of 8 that get 'r done! |

Special event... geared around the Mustang obviously. The plan was to have 109 or the remaining 150 that are still flying there. Here's the website. I am going tomorrow, and if the F22 is not there I will cry. www.gml2007.com/ |

If I had Bill Gates money, I can tell you a few things that would be parked in my
Thanks for the cool pics. |
Is this a civie aircraft painted up as .mil, or does the DOD operate CJs now? |
It's a T-1A, a modified Beech 400. It's used as the advanced trainer for pilots going to heavies. |

HOLY SWEET JEEBUS!!!!
That's an AWESOME collection of amazing aircraft!! Isn't this the event that was supposed to have over 100 Mustangs?? Looks like it! But seeing all the rest! B-25s, TWO B-17s... a freakin Lancaster!?!?! WOW!! That must have been ABSOLUTELY AMAZING to have been there! |
Excellent Post!
I wish I had know about this. It would have been worth the road trip to see a P-40, P-51A, P-38, P-39, and Lancaster in the flesh. |
The AF also has the C-21 which is a Lear 35, and also the C-20 which is the Gulfstream III. They are generally used for VIP transport. In fact, the primo bitch speaker of the house Pelosi, raised holy hell over the fact that when she tried to go home to SFO, the AF only provided her with a C-20, and not a C-25 (747) or a C-32 (757). Frankly she should STFU and be happy that she isn't stuck in coach class on United! |

6 50's... man that's gotta hurt! I got my pilots license in Ohio, and actually flew into that airport during my cross-country training, wish I could be there now. |

My understanding is that the Bush White House caved and she did indeed get the C-32 (Boeing 757) for her weekly trips back and forth to San Francisco. -Gator |

Awesome pics Chokey!!!
Neat to see a flying P51B, too...don't see those every day. |
The Roush Mustang belongs in the Car forum.
Old Crow = Roush Mustang... |
FREAKIN SWEET!
I looked at that pic of the P-38 taxing and said holy crap that's a Lancaster behind it. I didn't even know there were any in this country. Great pic's, what great time you must have had. Thanks for sharing. MB |
The P40 and P39 are so freakin' cool.
The Mustangs weren't so bad either. |
wow looks way better than most air shows i've been to.
Did they really push the F-22 or did they just do some flybys? (Did they show off the thrust vectoring capability much?) |
