It was brought up a while back, but nothing ever came of it. I think we need to have a AR-15.com convention. over a long weekend, somewhere that we could have a shoot too.
lets make this happen !!! any ideas ??

I think bulletfest has become the quasi-AR15.com convention.

A lot of folk from here go, it's centrally located- I vote that Bulletfest be named the official AR15.com convention.

Can't. It's not fair. I'm sure the majority of the members here are from Texas, probably followed by Cali/Florida....

It has to be centrally located for it to be fair for everyone.
I mean, i'm sure me and SteyrAug and SKSSeven and all teh Florida boyz would like it to be held in Miami, but it ain't gunna happen.

Here we go again.

Vegas is set up for conventions. Has all the amenities. Places to shoot, full auto can be rented, casinos, strip joints, airport, taxis, name it, Vegas has it.

I guess the biggest city in the "middle" would be Wichita, KS.

Anyone ever been there?

I once read that Memphis, TN was the center of air travel and shipping in the US, which is why Fred Smith chose that city to headquarter FedEx.  Just mentioning that so that the word "middle" doesn't turn into central Kansas.  IMHO, anywhere from Memphis to Little Rock to Tulsa to Wichita would be close enough.z

Places to shoot,

Ohio has places to shoot

full auto can be rented,

If i'm not mistaken, there was plenty of FA at teh last bullet fest

casinos,

Ans that has what to do with shooting?

strip joints,

There are strip joints in Ohio

airport,

There are airports in Ohio

Really... The purpose of an AR15.com gathering would be to have fun and shoot!

I mean, why not Hawaii?!?!
I mean, beaches, Tiki-Girls, Mai-Tais, Luaus..

See the point?
It has to be fair to all teh members..

Uhhh, how is Ohio more "fair"?

It's not centrally located.

Approx. 800 air miles from Florida, 500 from New York, 1200 from Texas and 2000 miles from California.

Ohio is about as "fair" as Vegas.

Vegas is only a suggestion because they can handle conventions and everything is close by.

I'm sure there are other convention centers in gun friendly states that would love to do this.

Okay....where is bulletfest?

I would have to vote for KC or St. Louis  or Lake of the Ozarks....got everything we would need

Y'know...  I want to know who the hell is gonna pay to book a VEGAS convention center for a relatively small group of people from this board to use?

I'm all for a convention, but hell.  Even with all our members...  Think about how many would actually book and pay...  Then think about the cost of a convention center.  Then think about how much the registration fee is gonna tur out ot be, based on that...

Then think again about how many will still actually pay.

Cause you got to include entertainment money, fees, expenses, plan tickets, etc. in people's budgets.  I don't mind travelling a ways, but Vegas seems like it'd be a little out of our league, atm.

For that matter, we could all go hole up in hotels in St. Augustine with McCarrots, and play with the Florida Boys' FA toys.

OK, here we go, I got my atlas out and I'm finding the PERFECT places. Here's the plan. We'll have simultaneous conventions, three of 'm: West coast, East coast, and one International.
West Coast - California
East Coast- New Jersey
International - Canada

No thanks needed, it really wasn't that hard to figure out. If we pull this off, we won't have to worry about how many will actually pay, how many will actually come, and how to get a convention hall and range. No Worries = No Headaches. Just PERFECT isn't it?

Here we go again,

seems a few of us tried to get put one together a couple years back and noone would settle or be happy with a location? AntiUSSA and I thought PASA Park in Iliniois would be good?

Maybee someone could get a web poll going with like three choices and see what is most popular?

My other suggestion was to have an AR15.com "tour" different shoots throughout the US on a schedule. Different members could make different ones? Get a banner printed up and send it around for members to sign

Habbib's rod & gun club in Kabul...unlimited range, full auto, reactive targets AND secondary explosions. While not centrally located, it would be well worth the trip. Get to meet fellow shooters from all over the world, that share our enthusiasm for military weapons. Charter a C-17, if good response, a C-5. And get to watch the flares and neat tracers as we arrive to a warm welcome! Get a close up view of an actual stinger missile! Gambling!...pull a veil, see what you get. Tank rides!...ride a real Soviet tank! Mountain climbing and spelunking are all inclusive. See real Taliban dudes! AR15.com members would get full media coverage!  Kabul bulletfest videos soon to follow. An epic event that you will want to remember forever, all on CD! How about it? Whos in? [thinking]

Okay, new guy suggestion here...

skip trying to start the planning by WHERE it's gonna be.
Step 1: who's interested?
Step 2: who COULD actually go?
Step 3: what do we want to do? shoot, gamble, get whores, or what?
I can shoot here, don't want to gamble, and wife won't let me get whores. so give it a MEANIGFUL reason to get together. shooting competitions, meet and greet dinners, opportunities for vendors to show up and offer product (vendors help defray cost of event!)
Step 4: plan size of arena and proximity to range (hotles, halls, etc) for a actual group size.
Step 5: make it as centrally located as possible that meets requirements for event.
Step 6: Pick and confirm a date at LEAST 6 months in advance for all the working slobs to get the time off and save money for the event IF they don't have it on a moments notice.

If we all say where to have it...we'll never have it.

No_Expert.

I don't care where it is, provided:

1. There are things for the wife and kids to do
2. We have at least six months advance notice

My preference would be Nashville, during football season next year.  Having said that, don't overlook Texas.  Dallas, Houston, or San Antonio all meet the basic requirements for a convention.

Vegas has the infrastructure to support a bunch of ass-grabbing drunken loonies.  Plus that bimbo with the GeoTitties site, who got all offended at us using up her bandwidth, is there -- we can go let her take photos of us and then refuse to tip her.
