I checked my e-mai today, and suddenly all the e-mails I had that were related to guns, or gun related items were missing.  I had saved a bunch, and they were at the end of all my messages.  I also had some that were recent, within the last couple of days.  They are missing too, so its not like I had too much space taken and they deleted some off the end of the list.  I had many strewn about and was saving them.  I have no idea why they would do this, but they have screwed up a couple of transactions I have going with some members here.

I don't think hotmail is allowed to do that, I don't even see how they could know because I didn't think they are allowed to read peoples mail.

I didn't think they would be allowed to do that either, but all other messages were there.  It just seems weird.  Its possible there is some other explanation, but I don't see how I can get an e-mail yesterday about some magazines, and some other junk mail, and only the junk mail is left today.  Every single message that pertains to guns is gone.  All the damn porn and other stuff is still there.  There are plenty of other messages from yesterday still there, just not gun related ones.

You only get so much space, they delete your personal email when you get to your limit.  The advertisements, they say, cause they pay.

Allowed or not, Hotmail has anti-gun vigilantes on staff. My account went belly up mysteriously right after I completed a gun trade with someone.  I was pissed off because I lost the guy's phone number and other info.  Luckily we had already done the deal, but still.  I ditched hotmail after that.  Gates is in bed with the feds big time.  I suspect all the other free e-mail services are as well.

As far as 'net surveillance goes, you haven't seen anything yet!  The "terror" bill is going to cause you & me a lot of hardship.

It could be a coincidence, but too many other shooters have had problems with their accounts.  Maybe it is system wide?  I don't trust free e-mail though.

Damn right they were deleted because you went over your space limit and the janitor will clean your stuff, they even send you a notice to do so before it happens. It keeps people from using all their space.

Hey, maybe someone was testing the FBI's Carnivore program. Didn't think they'd gotten the okay to use it, but maybe "testing" is permitted at this point. Officially, anyway. Everyone should pay close attention to all facets of any anti-terrorism bill because it'd be extremely easy for the antis to slip something in them that could be construed as anti-terrorist yet is actually just the same old attack on RKBA. But maybe I'm simply paranoid. [:\]

Well, I know that they send a message to clear out old e-mails cause they have limited space, but I had several messages that I recieved yesterday and the day before that were still on the first page that went missing.  All of my other e-mails recieved yesterday and the day before are still there, as they are also on the first page.  They usually delete from the oldest messages in your inbox only.

ok test them. Make sure your mailis under the 100k limit, make up some bogus sale with a friend. Send it back and forth. Save the whole message and date time on your pc in a directory.
Then sit back and wait.

My hotmail account is currently 8 pages deep, with 727 e-mails saved.

Almost ALL of them are gun related.

Hang on now, before we all go jumping to the Big Brother conspiracy theory conclusions!

Are you the ONLY one with access to your Hotmail acct?? (past or present) Maybe your wife/girlfriend/Husband/boyfriend/Gimp got in there and deleted some of them?

Maybe someone with a little bit of brains and some determination managed to 'hack' into your inbox? do you check messages from a public computer? IE: Work,Library,School etc? History files are EXTREMELY easy to access, and will usually provide a direct link into almost ANY password protected site.

All gun transactions are sent to my Yahoo.

Get a Yahoo and encounter less SPAM!!!!

Hotmail used to accept an average of fifteen spam messages a day.  I no longer use it and there are about three hundred messages there right now.

Well, I just checked it and it was deactivated.  Oh well...

You guys are lucky.  Tonight (Thursday) I can't even log on to Hotmail to check my messages.  Doesn't matter if I try via www.hotmail.com or MSN Messenger.

Anyone else having problems?

Anyone have a way to archive Hotmail messages on your own computer?  I've tried asking what passes for customer support at Hotmail but just get a runaround.

I was in the middle of checking my messages tonight on hotmail and got cut off.  All the explanation that I recieved was that they were temporarily unable to provide service for their users.  Then, about ten minutes later my computer crashed.  It completely locked up and I had turn it completely off, then back on again.  HMmmmmm....[:\]

Yeah, I can't get in tonight either.

No problem earlier though.

Maybe they're deleting all my gun stuff.
