It's a different world then it was 40, 30 or 20 years ago. There are probably alot kids out there whose lives aren't very different from the story in that book.

That book is more than likely an educational aid used in counseling
sessions for molested children. They have different books for different subjects like children who've witnessed the murder of a family member, children who've found a corpse, etc. |

My God! This is why I do not want to have any kids! The world has to change quite a bit (revert back to more naieve times) before I'd feel safe exposing a child to today's world. Freakin' horrible.

Maybe but Uncle Pete saying sorry is not enough. It should have emphasized that Uncle Pete should be punished and behind bars. In the little drawings, it looks like he is in the school gym. If it is a educational aid, then it should be more realistic. JMHO |

Definitely a sexual abuse/trauma counseling aid.. not something you'd buy your kid to read before bedtime.

Notice how everyone in that book, except for the counselor and the kid, is an asshole? Lessons to be learned here: only the nice psychologist/social worker is really there to help you. Apparently,he also has a cure for "the ghey",too. Mommy is a weak-willed,non-confrontational enabler,Daddy is an abusive,disconnected jackass,and the rest of the family consists of a creepy would-be pedophile. Nice..... A very odd book. It reinforces the negative,old fashioned stereotypes of crappy fathers and mothers,yet it concludes that gayness is driven by sexual abuse. It's both PC and very un-PC at the same time. |

I own that book along with another one called 'The Gas We Pass'. I keep them in the guest bathroom just for laughs. People always come out of the bathroom commenting on them. |

Actually, that book in the OP seems fairly spot on. I agree that it's likely part of a series to help kids, like those were molester, witnessed a murder, etc.
