I usually avoid fast food like the plague, but had to grab something on the run this morning, and saw Wendy's was offering breakfast again, so figured I'd give it a shot.

Steak & egg sandwich $3.49 or $4.79 (I think) for the combo. Got the latter.

Sandwich was a huge disappointment, or should I say tiny disappointment. Cheap spongy sammich bun, lighter than a McD's sausage McTimebomb (10 minutes to the dumper, you can set your watch by em). egg was ok, maybe one strip of bacon broken in half, but the "steak"... WHERE'S THE BEEF? Damn near none, and what there was was some kind of rubbery mystery meat. Potato pancake was greasy and overdone. They also forgot the creamer for the decaf. Won't be going back. Wendy's usually does better, but this was a stinker. * opens window *

You want a real disappointment from Wendy's? Try their "Baconator". The bacon tasted like it was Canadian bacon or something. Blargh.

Only had breakfast there once and it was so-so. It wasn't so bad I wouldn't try it again, yet it wasn't good enough that I'll go rushing back for more. McD's has a better brkfst IMO.

Meh. Fast food breakfast sucks. I'll eat a McD's breakfast from time to time, but I try not to do it too often.

On the other hand, I can't get enough of the steak and egg burritos at Carls Jr

Get a burrito, they put McDonald's breakfast burrito's to shame.

Coffee was pretty good too. (Better than BK.)

Not all apparantly. They had it a few years ago, then it went away, maybe this is a test marketing. If so, it failed.

Best breakfast I have ever had was off a roach coach in SoCal, AZ (Yuma), and Albq, NM....

Puts every Fast Food chain to shame, and the Cinnamon style coffe goes good with Chorizo burritos

Have you tried the new (larger/spicier/tastier) breakfast burrito McD's has? Pretty darn good.

Agreed on the Baconator being a big disapoitment. Limp bacon just doesn't cut it.

Around here if I have the time I like to hit Royal Farms (a 7-11 type store0 for breakast. Their 'deli counter' makes the sandwich exactly as you want it (build it using a touch screen). Double steak with my eggs works for me

A lot of gas stations around here rent out a corner of their store to Mexicans. They set up a grill and counter top. They cook up chicken and beef mostly but will offer other meats as well. $1 tacos loaded with grilled onions, cilantro, green sauce and a lime wedge. Two tacos are enough to get you going. Four tacos will fill anyone up.

An equal number of gas stations will allow Mexicans to set up their taco carts on the sidewalks outside. Same quality and portions. I can't remember the last time I ate one of those fastfood chain breakfasts.

It's a treat to get your taste buds flaming and eyes watering first thing in the morning.
