Back in around 1980 my dad bought me a Sims "Brad Bowman" skateboard and I rode it for years, beating it to death. I found it in the garage today, wiped it down and started looking around the internet. Seems they go for $2500-$1900 in good condition.
 I also found a Dogtown but that is a little newer era at about 1988 or so, I don't know if Dogtown was still in business then and this is a re-issue though. Looking around some of the skateboard forums at the retro and collector stuff I wish I had a damn time machine to go back and buy as many decks from the 70's and early 80's as I could.         |

I still have my old Lucero, in the garage. I think I bought it in 86 or so.

It's surprising how much that old school skater junk is worth. I have new decks today that I don't ride with the vain thought that they may be worth something further on down the road.

I still ride my old DogTown occasionally.
Kind of related, I wish I would've kept all the old Mongoose MotoMags I swapped out for lighter bike wheels. Those seem to be getting some interest now too. [ETA:] Thunder trucks, Jason Lee "stereo" wheels, Grind King kingpins, etc. Top one. I do ride the bottom one more though:  [ETA2:] The SK8NUTS guy is an arfcommer! |

Just damn.
 I used to run three or four active decks at all times, always with Indy 169's and Rat Bones, 99 durometer, preferred. It all started with a Sea-Flex "Betty-Boom", and it was downhill from there! I think the very last one I had before I stopped skating was a Roskopp. I grew up in San Jose, late 80's, so most of those cats were ramp fixtures 'round there. |

I noticed there's a retro BMX craze going on right now too, for bikes from the same era (late 70's to mid 80's).
Must be all the 40 year old guys with some expendable income trying to re-live their youth  .

Nice, I started skating when wheels looked like someone wrapped a condom around the bearings, thank God that trend didn't last long. I still roll around the neighborhood on occasion.

I went to Mitty. Spent most of my time at the "bricks" downtown SJ, and the "wave", by the mall at the end of Sunnyvale-Saratoga road. Many backyard ramps, "kinda-sorta" acquainted with S. Cab. and the bunch. Went to as many skate punk shows as I could get away with. *Might* we know each other?

Yeah, reissues generally aren't worth anywhere near as much as the originals or NOS boards are. I'm pretty sure they're still made in the US though. |

A buddy of mine collected them before they were en vogue, he has about 100 boards. His prize is one of the boards used in the Dogtown and Z-Boys footage (I forget who's board it was), he thinks it's worth about $15k.

My first deck was an Uncle Wiggley Argile, followed by a Sims Flagship. My ankles are sure glad I dont use those contraptions anymore!

Bought new in 1978 (30 years ago next year) but the pictures were taken in my garage 10 minutes ago...
Gordon & Smith FibreFlex Team Rider, laminate Tracker Trucks G & S Lip Bombs with German Bearings Power Pivot The twenty-something kid who works at the skate shop where my son was buying a t-shirt acted like I had just walked in with the Holy Grail when he saw it. I declined the offers of course.

I used to have a couple "BONZAI" skate boards when I was a kid. One was wood and I think the other might have been steel or something.

I knew Cab, spent time at his place every once in a while, he was only 3 miles from my house. pretty good friends with Craig Bosch and his Brothers, There was a younger kid we knew as Fabicker who was a natural but he just kind of gave it up. I spent quite a bit of time in the cement wash in Morgan hill and the little one along the 101 near Anderson lake, also skated Uvas spillway a bit. |

I've got both my P-P Mike McGill models, although I've only got trucks (tracker) and wheels (P-P) on the newer model.
