Well got a call about a week ago from my old job here in Dallas and they asked if I was still looking. Apparently after the lay offs, people started quiting also. Probably due to being over worked and under paid. In any case they asked if I wanted to come back and help out, no strings attached.
Since I am juggling my bills and not paying them until the statements turn red/pink. And Vinny the fish keeps calling threatening to break my legs (as in a couple of mins ago). So I agreed. Guess I will just hang my head on Monday, swallow hard, and walk in thru those doors again. I am pretty sure that I will be keeping to myself as before. Seething and loathing. Asking what has happened to my careeer. But at least I have a steady paycheck. Although it may take me months to get vinny the fish of my back. Ahhh. c'est la vie. Guess I'll be drinking heavily again to wash the day off my mind. |

... keep your chin high Al, we all love ya baby.
... hint: the military industry is gearing up nicely! |

LT,
Hopefully things will be a bit better this time around, but at least you can continue to look for work without the pressure of bills looming heavily on you. And you get to stay in (relatively) free Texas. As much as I'd welcome you back in the PRK, I wouldn't wish that on you. -Troy |
|
WW = That will be my saving grace, is to get called up and they would have to keep my job till I get back. Hopefully the financial services industry will start to pick up again. HEHEHEHE
Troy = As Don said to me once, My silly ass is to broke to move back anyways. |
|
LT,
Congrats! Glad to hear the good news. Keep swingin' for the bleachers. Arock |

Hey it's a stockbroker firm...right? Well why you are there maybe you can learn how to embezzel from the company....then if you get laid off later you will have money to fall back on[:D]

Aargh.... I know the feeling of having to go back to a job that I loathed and made a big deal of leaving, back in the last recession. Well, I stifled my indignation until I found a another, better job while gritting my teeth back at the old one in the meantime. Life is tough sometimes, Lordtrader. There seems to be no rhyme nor reason why things happen, even when we think we are operating efficiently, and have all options and bases covered. Sometimes, things just don't work out.
Of course, maybe things will change at your old job- certain people, who made life hell, will be gone, and other working relationships and policies might have changed. Well, probably not, but just get back there, be professional, keep looking for other work, pay off Vinny the Fish, and remember- these tough times will eventually pass. Take out your frustrations here- and at the range. Two very healthy outlets, if I do say so myself. |

Look at it this way.....it's better than doing GAY PORN to pay your bills

Congrats, it's a nice feeling to have a paycheck. So far, I've never had to go back to a former job, but I made sure not to burn those bridges behind me when I left. (except for the ones I would NEVER go back to) |

Glad to here it LT. At least it'll keep the wolf from the door until you find something more agreeable.
|

LT, I would think if they called you back they are swallowing a bunch of pride. I would bet they need you more than they care to admit. Go back with your head held high. Use them to relaunch yourself. You won....fullclip
|
|
Glad to hear it!
Now this means that you can buy a shit load of your wonder pills and get a whopping 9 incher!!! BTW, you see any differences yet?? Hehehehe. I might have to pick up a bottle if its all that its cracked up to be. |
|
I'll have a large order of fries...with that..
I know the feeling LordTrader... I'm still out of work |
|
Didn't know bankers HAD any pride! Glad you found a job; but couldn't it have been honest work?
|
|
Good luck, LT, you can do it, remember you can buy more guns...
|
|
Always easier to find a good job when you already have one. Hang in there.

Smeghead = Just drop me a line whenever you want to go shooting. Always good to throw lead down range, and I have never been to Gibson's. So to me that's a virgin range, I like virgins [;)]
fullclip = That a good way to think about it thanx. Kalifornia = you got that right buddy [:D] then I'm changing career to porn. Watch out Holmes here I come. MM = At least I am honest, maybe the industry will follow [:)] TheWind = With what they are paying me, it will be at least a year before I can climb out of the hole I dug for myself [:(] I don't think I will be adding to my collection anytime soon. |

Congratulations LT!
After 5 months of being unemployed, I too found out today that I have a job! Just knowing that a pay check is on the way is comforting. Like my job? You mean people have jobs they like?! Just do it man! You can find something else at your leisure now! |

Congrats LT. I got laid off a week ago Friday - one week before I got married. Talk about a kick in the teeth...
In my quest for a job, I'm even willing to do something I swore I'd never do - commute to downtown Washington, DC. Hey, gotta pay the mortgage... |
|
You have to eat, and you have to pay your bills. Don't be hanging your head. Good luck and keep the faith.

The CHP and LAPD are hiring. You seem like a bright enough guy and have that Asian thing going for you.
|

Congrts'.. Take advantage of your regained situation. An old personnel officers rule is; "When you are employed, you are employable"
Best of luck: Ray |

View Quote The last time I went for the CHP, they told me I had a 1 1/2 wait for the academy or I could pay for my own way at a private academy and I had a job gauranteed once I graduated. At that time I needed a job pronto so I passed it up. I was thinking LEO here in TX but I really wanted to stay in my current career. Its still in the back burner though. |

That pride tastes bad going down, doesn't it? Lord knows I've had to swallow mine more than once since I got laid off in March. At least you've found a job. After my contract is up in October, it looks like I'll be out of a job again. I may have an audit for an electronics manufacturer that could pay off the rest of the years mortgage and car payments, but that's about it.
If worse comes to worse I can work retail during the Christmas rush. God Bless Texas |

Its been a month, and my former company has managed to still carry on without me. If this goes too long, pride might start to tasting pretty good. Good luck, I'm cheering from the bleachers.

LT, don't forget, they called you.
Now it's your turn to set the pace. Work late? No way, what are you going to do fire me? Been there, done that. Dress code? You don't like my AR15.com t-shirt? What are you going to do, fire me? You don't like my American flag or NRA sticker? What are you going to do, fire me? Don't let the bastards get you into a corner again. Now is the time for the "real LT" to come out. |

I agree with fullclip. They came crawling to you. They WANT you. They NEED you. [beer] |

Yeah, it is pretty damn rare for an employer to come back and ask a previously terminated employee to return. They probably realized, after dumping you, just how much you really did. Good for you, man.
BUT start looking for another job while you still have one. If they crapped on you once they won't hesitate to do it again. |

Good for you, man. BUT start looking for another job while you still have one. If they crapped on you once they won't hesitate to do it again. View Quote This is not always true in every segment of industry. I work for a major semiconductor manufacturing company and we recently rehired a bunch of people that had been terminated less than a year ago. Some of the people that were brought back are completely useless and a couple should not be allowed outside without adult supervision. I heard that a couple have even been fired again already. I'm sure this doesn't pertain to LordTrader though, he seems like a pretty good guy. It just makes me wonder sometimes how the people in charge got to be there in the first place. Now, somebody in Dallas...Where the hell is Gibson's Outpost???? Michael |

Hey, sounds like we BOTH have good news. I had an interview with the Aerus/Electrolux Regional VP today. To quote: "I am very impressed with you, Mr. Little. How would you like a position starting at 60 thousand, training sales reps on our equipment?" After picking my jaw up off the floor, I said, "SURE!"
He's supposed to call me later this afternoon to go over the finalization and training. I just hope this isn't a scam... I'm not the door-to-door type. |

Congrats bud!
Does this mean you're buying the first round this weekend? ]=) |

LT, looks like things are looking up for you, bud. ALRIGHT! I have a cousin living in North Ca. and I keep telling moving over here, and he keeps hesitating, and he is into firearms more than me. I mean what are more important to him: guns or guns? --------------- Adaptability is the key to survival!! The day to remember : 09/11/01 !! |

I can have Vinnie the Fish taken care of if you want(he's my uncle) But it will cost you more then you owe.
|

Good for you LT on getting your job back. Glad you aren't like me and have to work in coal mining. The only nice thing I can say about it is, the pay is decent for the area but working in minus 40 degree weather gets old fast. Been at it for 14 years though, don't want to retrain for something else if I can help it.

Something is better than nothing, chin up you little trooper![heavy]

Lordtrader,
Congrats! Two things: 1. Good friend/mentor, dying of cancer (54yo), introduced me to other terminal patients, before he was diagnosed. Life can be tough, but life is short. Every day is a gift. 2. From 2 Fortune-Looney-tours, "The best time to look for a job, is when one is employed." |
|
Looks like my "job offer" is nixed. I never did get the call back that night, and he left work yesterday prior to returning my calls. (in an "all-day" meeting. Yeah, right).
Oh, well. Back to the want-ads. |
